How rare are these? Should I use them?

I'm currently rebuilding a Turbo Optima I scored off Craigslist (see http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=21246) and I've run into a dilemna.

The buggy is going to be a runner (I don't like shelfing RC cars). Well in the tear down, I found that the previous owner wasn't the "nicest" person to the chassis rails by using the wrong screws. Well I've managed to "make things right" with it but here is my dilemna.

In the parts lot I had a pair of new, never used frame rails. The issue is they're the option house lightened ones. I'd only heard of these and never actually saw them before (I used to race a turbo optima back in the 80's). I posted them for sale because I figure they'd be better off in someone's collection than just as a replacement chassis. I'm just curious if you all think that's a wise decision.

PS no I'm not looking to find out "how much is it worth" LOL. I know better than that. Just want to get the other Optimaniacs' opinions on this item.

Option House part W-0104: they're not very rare; they pop up on eBay pretty frequently and they don't cost that much. One set NIP just sold a couple of days ago for $12.50. IMO, I'd use them.

I've seen those infrequently, thought they were pretty cool. I wonder if they were hard-anodized after being channeled? Because the channeling, while reducing the weight, might also impact the sturdiness.

Cool thanks for the heads up. I'll probably sell them for someone's collection but we'll see. I might just save them for a future project.

Time to go revise a for sale thread

I wish I had seen that one. The few sets I've ever seen have gone for around $50.

I come across a set on eBay about once a month and they usually seem to sell for under $25. Of course, I'm not actually looking for a set...if I was, they'd almost never appear and cost $75 :D .

Isn't that always the case. When I'm looking for a car, I end up waiting and waiting and then I take the plunge on a "decent" deal, then within one to two weeks, I have 3 or 4 of the same drop in my lap LOL.

I'm going to try not looking then. This way I won't see other things I want to buy either and will be better off overall.
