Hey all, I'm new to the forum and am thinking of getting back into rc and giving the old cars an upgrade. So I thought I would just post my car (fresh with dust from sitting around for the past 10 years or so) for the fun of it.

I did upgrade it some time ago with a stealth trans, mip cvds, and a different bellcrank system.
The bodies are an AE Viper and a Mirage turbo.

I'm really looking forward to breaking the cars down giving everything a fresh rebuild and adding some of the new tech out there and a few of the upgrades you all have posted on here.

Oh and I have a 10t that I'll post in the truck forum if you want to take a look at it.

looks like you got yourself a nice CE and I'm sure once you get it cleaned up and throw some new tech in it you will be tearing it up. I think I speak for all of us when I say we do want to see the 10T pics

Yeah I really can't wait to get the new stuff in the car and take it for a spin. I must say I love how some of the tech has gotten cheaper, back in the day I couldn't compete due to not having the funds to get those good batteries and chargers. I drove decent but just couldn't keep up with the folks with the money. The only time I could was when I drove perfect, and I just couldn't sustain that a whole day usually just a round. So I'm excited with the new tech and a track is about to open not 10mins from me, I really need to get to work refreshing the cars.

It's been proven on here that the RC10 can still compete with the B4s. Of course the B4s corner better, but really, it comes down to the driver

I love the Stealth CE's the most of any RC10 for a racer. I have two I run all the time.
I run mine in the mod class and stock class, in stock form other than brushless motors and speedos but still using the 80's Airtronics CS2P radio and receiver on 27 mhz, and only a small handfull of guys are slightly faster sometimes (not all the time) with their current modern cars, and it isn't because of the car. It's because I'm just getting old as I near 50, eyes and reflexes are just not what they used to be and most of these guys I speak of are in the mid to low 20's and younger.

The RC10CE rocks and in the right hands still runs strong against any car!

So your running the stock 2.2:1 stealth ratio or did you use that RPM upgrade to the 2.6:1?
Well I'm in my early 30s and part of the first generation of video gamers so the eye hand coordination is still pretty good. Although I'm sure I'm going to be pretty rusty driving after not being on a track in over 10yrs. Maybe the speed of one of those 2.4ghz tx might improve that reflex gap a little ...... I kid I'm sure you would drive circles around me.

Stock 2.25:1 stealth with stock slipper.
No problems with the transmission or the car.

In fact during practice one day, Jeremy and I were going back and forth with setting the fastest laps (just for fun mainly) and by the end of that day (next day everyone was much faster), he had turned a 25.2 second lap with his TQ10x 2WD mod car (current 2WD car with the latest radio on 2.4ghz etc..) and my fastest lap was 25.3 seconds, using a stock gold tub RC10CE with 2.25 stealth transmission and analog Airtronics CS2P radio on 27Mhz from the 80's that I have had all these years.

Trust me, the technology difference is non-existant, and with only a .1 of a second difference with a 20 yr old car and radio is but a small flinch in a corner. I'm sure if I had thrown another battery in it that day we would have continued the battle for fastest lap of the day. I think on this day (Friday before the Spring Fling) we were both the fastest 2WD cars on the track... the next day was different, track had tons more grip and more people were going fast as this current gen of racers seem to only be able to go fast on high-bite blue grooved tracks (just from what I have observed since my return to racing).

The cars are not the difference, nor are the radios. My belief is that it's something like 90% driver and 5% car and 5% tires. A well setup RC10 in stock form can still run with the current cars easily.
There are days when my car is fastest, there are days when other guys are fastest, it's a matter of setup and track conditions, choosing the right tire with right insert pressure, etc... but you can't count out the old RC10 even today.
It's funny because I don't feel I am at a disadvantage with the car at all, but I am having a ton of fun racing the car I have loved for many years. Im not the best driver around either, and I know that my car in the hands of a more capable driver would go faster than I am going... but it seems that many have no knowledge of how to setup their cars and depend on either other racers or setup sheets to find the magic.
