Driven by K. Takahashi in 1981. Almost impossible to find another pic of this car.

Image

I happened across this body last year and had to have it. So the car is being built around the body. All parts are brand new and purchased piece by peice to build this F103. (except for the rear pod and battery holder which I borrowed off my P34 six wheeler just for mock-up purposes) I've been working on this slowly over the winter.

Body is done but driver still needs some color.

F103LM chassis, Formula link front suspension, Formula 3.5 ofset uprights.

Image

The rear end has the newer F103 ball mount set and I added a rear diffuser.

A few more parts to collect and this should be up and running soon. The yellow looks a lot better in person. The camera didn't pick it up well.

Where did you find this body? One guy here has this Royce body and this looks fantastic and also handles very good from what I hear. It´s just I don´t know where to buy I think there are several drivers interested here.

From what I know this Royce is made just from TRG or has Tamiya also such a Royce?

It's a TRG. I found it on Ebay last year.

Beautiful body. D-Drive Sports has it, if I'm not mistaken. Their site is down again, though, so no confirmation on that one.

Dug this one back out.
Like most of my builds I get 90% done, then lose interest. I did just find the last few parts I needed for the low so the build is back on.

5mm ball studs with 2m screw hole to fit knuckles.
Image

All Tamiya parts. Rare black alloy motorplate, titanium screws throughout, carbon friction damper plate, blue alloy parts...

Image

F104 alloy diff housing, wheel stopper, and carbon axle. The F104 parts fit perfectly. No more diff falling apart when I remove the wheels and goodbye thrust bearing.

I put a Tamiya shock together with a TRF HL cylinder. Feels more solid than the standard one and I like the bronze look. Not sure what spring to use so I'll start with this hard/stiff one.

Image

Tamiya low friction ball cups on Tamiya blue turnbuckles. I only had red alloy servo mounts so I threw on some red wheel nuts to set it off.

Image

Futaba S9452 servo might be a little overkill torque wise but it will do for now. Not sure what motor/esc combo to go with. Want to keep it brushed, may go with a new Trinity speed gems.

Stumbled upon this thread, great pic of the car that was your inspiration for the build and excellent execution on your version, particularly the body and paint!

I am a bit of a Cibie lighting snob on my vintage full scale car so that predisposes me to like what you've done.
