yup.
Just finished cutting the lower rib off of a nip front bulkhead. It took me a long time to find this one with the rib just so I could cut the rib off and have the car built correct per the proformance instructions.
The build is based on an incomplete proformance kit I bought. the kit contained the springs, chassis, body, and motor. Everything else is coming from individual parts bags I have horded over the past 2 years.
It will have minimal aftermarket parts on it. so far the only upgrade is the ball bearing servo saver type bellcranks, and the aluminum transmission screw kit. Both losi brand and were chosen because I had them but didn't have the stock parts and don't feel like waiting.

I may add a puretech battery strap since that is what I had on my proformance car back in the day, but I am not sure yet.
any ideas on when puretech started producing the straps?

1991 on Mike Dunn's ROAR NATS winning Laser. Same year and same race Kyle Reed used similar battery strap on his Pro SE Prototype. Also same year in IFMAR world they were used. I don't know witch was first.

Thanks for the info. I was actually thumbing through a pair of old RCCA magazines I just got in the mail and found an ad from pure-tech in both of them. The issues were june and july 1990. The cover stories were the JRX-2 as the car of the year, and inside the nats winning JRX-T, so the velcro straps should be at home in any losi vehicle.

Every time I do a build I start off intending to take lots of pictures along the way, and wind up taking a couple of the first step, and then getting engrossed in the process and forget to snap any more.
Here are a few of the build.
The proformance car was built with all NIP parts except for the wheels and tires which are in very nice shape. Rears are los vari-spikes, and front are kit standard ribbed.
everything is correct for an upgrade car except the trans top-shaft which is the pinned steel gear instead of brass. Upgrades include the early servo saver bearing bellcranks, and the aluminum trans screw set. the lexan is still in the box uncut.
in the interest of full disclosure the bearings are actually all AVID revolutions with the yellow rubber seals on one side and steel shields on the other. I built it "incorrectly" with the rubber seals in so they look like regular old bearings in the few spots where you can actually see them.

The regular pro in the comparison pictures was built a while ago. I had it built up with black wheels, black rpm gear cover and black rpm wheel nuts with an angular aftermarket body in a stealth fighter theme. I decided to make it standard color scheme, and added a NOS pocket rocket motor and red spur gear. This one has a pair of MIP hard anodized shock bodies and gold shock shafts. It is otherwise stock except for the losi BB steering, and was as the proformance car built from all NIP parts except for the wheels. All 8 wheels and tires came as part of a huge(170-ish) wheel lot I bought a while back and appear minimally used. I have a set of new tires still in the bags, but haven't come across wheels yet. The lexan is all repro stuff on this one.

Woah, that took a lot of reading! Great car though, awesome job.

I always take lots of pics, just so I can re-live the build months/years down the line... :)
