Acetone & Losi JRX2 wheels

I've got some Losi JRX2 wheels - which appear to be new but unfortunately have (also new) tyres rather poorly glued onto them.

I want to remove the tyres from the wheels for cleaning & to neaten them up but I am worried about using Acetone on them, having just had a bad experience with a set of HPI/Muchmoore wheels (molten smelly plastic :( ) Now I know acetone works okish on later Losi wheels - I did experience some 'pinking' occuring taking some tyres off some XXX wheels.

Just wondered if anyone has had experience with removing tyres from these older wheels & have any hints or tips they can pass on?

(P.S; something tells me the very early orange JRX2 wheels will melt but the later wheels were made in a different type of plastic & would be OK?)

yes that's correct dan, i learn't from roger that the early lt orange one's will certainly melt in acetone. i have never had much luck with boiling tires off rims myself. roger or anthony will help im sure brother. :)

early wheels + acetone = lump o' goo.
they changed the plastic on the later wheels, but I still do not trust the acetone bath on them.

Good to know! I thought all plastic wheels were acetone safe.

I think it's nylon that's acetone safe, and plastic + acetone = goo.
