SUPER RARE Orange Kevlar Masami '89 Worlds rear belt.....

.... Ha ha, just kidding... I don't think anyone could get a hold of that sucker. But, while I was in a different state of mind last night at 3:00Am I thought it would be a killer idea to paint an old rear YZ10 belt for fun to mimic the Masami worlds car Kevlar belt. I didn't have any orange paint around but after cleaning with brake cleaner, then soap and water - I hit one even coat of Pactra silver paint then two thin coats of Fluorescent Pink (didn't have orange)..... I need more time to test the durability and I'm not sure what color will match the Masami car the best but for a drunken project I'm pretty happy with the results. I'm building a sorta replica based around the Masami '89 Worlds car so I'm going to paint that belt as best I can to match to make the perfect shelf queen! Enjoy the fun pic below....

Custom work, inspired by the history of r/c. Awesome! If you cant buy it NIP, or wait for it to "show up" on eBay, its ok to go ahead and make it yourself. Thanks for sharing! Hope to see more of this car soon.

If anyone knows where to get a hold of one of these I would be super interested. The paint seems to work well for aesthetic purposes but nothing would beat the actual product.

Let me know if anyone has a line on these!!

Thanks,

Jeff

can you measure the belt and post your findings?
looking for width, tooth size and number of teeth.
I bet they are a standard size available here:
https://sdp-si.com/eStore/

Under belts>timing belts they have a picture of an orange toothed belt, but no indication of what belts are what color.
I have emailed the sales rep to see if orange is available and how to order.
I will keep you posted.

Is there a picture from Masamis car showing the orange rear belt?

I know UK brand Wasp did have some orange belt for various cars. That time I also bought such belt for my Schumacher CAT what also was finepitch.

no reply yet from the company as to the colors of the various materials. They are cheap enough that I might just buy one of each material avaolable in the size I need and just see what I get.
Gotta do some research first and see what lengths were originally available from hyperdrive.

Yes that´s exactly the brand I meant. They had different colours at least these pink belts and the orange ones.

NICE!!!! If anyone has one of those WASP orange belts for a YZ10 (Rear belt), I'll cut off my arm and sent it to them for it!!!

I'm trying to figure out this "Stock Drive" website and I've narrowed down a few things with this belt. I went to Timing Belts, then set the parameters for "Belt Type" as single sided, then "Number of grooves" (I'm assuming this is # of teeth which I counted as 64 on an original '89 YZ10.... someone let me know if I'm wrong), and "Belt Width" at 1/8". I left all of the other options open and only got 7 results with two optional pitches. The two pitches were .080" (MXL) and .0816" (40D.P.). Does anyone know what these mean? I'm hoping that one of these are the same pitch as the original YZ10. Otherwise, does anyone know how many teeth are on the rear belt for the 2mm fine pitch setup for the YZ10? Maybe there are more options with that sucker.

I did some other obscure research to find out about the color of the belts. I typed in each belt type into google images and looked at the pictures. Many of the "Polyurethane belts" come up as orange or colored while I think all of the pics for "Urethane" and "Neoprene" were black belts. This is a crappy way of checking but might give some promise as to the ones to try when ordering.

Let me know if anyone has any info on the stuff above and maybe we can all get matching Masami belts to show off to the hot ladies at the bar (chicks dig dudes with vintage rc cars!!!) :-)

I think I sorta figured it out.... I totally forgot about the metric section of the site. I think the stock yokomo YZ10 belt is 3mm which isn't promising (there aren't a lot of options in the 3mm pitch). I think I need to know how many teeth are on the Rear YZ10 2mm fine pitch belt. If anyone knows or wishes to burn 5 minutes and their eyes trying to count that would be awesome!

Thanks,

Jeff
