Hi guys

I have been browsing this board for a while, so now its time to make my first post. This is my recent Associated YZ-10 restore which i finished (almost) today. Only small adjustments as camper/toe axel length and other small things needs to be done, but not before i get a complete set of new wheels and i am thinking of ordering the Kamtec reproshell for it. I think the car deserves it. What do you guys think?

Hi Lennard, and might I say a fantastic job you have done there, I am quite keen on Yok's and it's nice to see another great examples. For some reason they seem to have a very small following, this was one forum I thought Yokomos would be in abundance but seemingly not, don't get me wrong all the members are very appreciative of good restoration and modification work Associated or not so you will feel right at home here.

Replacement parts(Used):

Front bulkhead
Front & rear bulkhead cap
Main gear
Tension pulley/arm
Plastic ballends
Servosaver
Battery straps
Anti-roll bar
Rear diff sprocket

Replacement parts(New)

Cap for center shaft
New belts
Most of the screws

All these parts a whole lot late hours cleaning and polishing.

Lennard I have to thank you, your post essentially not only got me back into the hobby but also caused me to join and share my thoughts on this board, it is really nice to see such a collection of like minds!

I raced Yokomo's primarily in Hong Kong (my father was an airline pilot and was based over there). At the end I had two '91 works dogfighters, one raced and the other a spare car. Bsoccti actually bought the spare car on ebay and now I want it back (lol, just kidding, but I do want to see those pictures!).

I just purchase a parts lot recently and got started, which looks to be a YZ-870c and a '91 Works but I am not 100% sure. See below, I apologize for the crappy pictures, my camera was out of juice and I couldn't wait to start tearing them apart to see what I had to work with, hence the cell phone pictures.

The above being said I also have a project RC10 and RC10T on the go and am looking forward to adding more to this board about my struggles with those two as well

Great looking restoration. I am looking at cleaning an old YZ10 up as well. Could you let me know what you used to polish the Magnesium bulkheads and the shocks.

I didn't want to hijack this thread, but this is close enough to a 870c restore question that those following this one might be able to help me with this one. (Will also have pictures up shortly of my 870/870c? restoration).

I purchased a parts lot off a forum member here (you know who you are ) which contained the pieces, at least from what I can tell (and some helpful ID from Dual) to a Corally based aftermarket Yokomo chassis with arms arms indicated in the picture below. (I have no idea where the metal gears came from but they seem perfect for this project) Needless to say I started to get excited about the prospects of rebuilding this one started this evening, running into my first snag almost immediately. The A arms pins I have to mount the arms to the alloy gearbox are too large, diameter wise....I even tried associated 6226's or 6227's just to see if they would fit size wise but to no avail.....does anyone know if Corally had their own pins or possibly could lend me any guidance on what I should be looking for? or am I trying to jam imperial into metric or vice versa?

The top pic is of a YZ-870c Super Dog Fighter or YZ10, depending on how it was originally boxed. I think it is a Super Dog Fighter because of the color someone dyed the bulkhead covers. Nobody else would want to run a green car except to replicate the late-80s champ.

You are missing the center brace. It is either an "L" shaped carbon fiber backbone or a top plate depending on when the kit was produced. My Yokomo branded car has the L backbone and doesn't have the screw holes on the top of the bulkhead covers.

Oh, I am super jazzed that I was able to locate the box and manual for mine. Let me know if you want to see the Super Dog Fighter box art.

Nice cars guys. Come on-who doesnt love the early Yok's? I like the 870c the best with its Japanese MANGA style body styling. I have recently agreed to trade the 2 cars I had in parts (and then some). I still have some new in packet spares if anyone is looking. Still got the 870c box too. How did you get your chassis plate so clean and shiney?

I am restoring mine and my chassis needs a little work.

I'm very interested in the process that was used to clean up the carbon fibre also.
