Jrx2 Proformance Kit
Hello All,
I wanted to post some information about the Jrx2 Proformance kit.
The proformance kit is basically converts the x2 into a pro. The kit came out before the jrx pro (like the lxt conversion came out before the lxt kit).
Chassis
The chassis is pretty much the same as the pro, except there was no hole for the servo saver. Early Jrxt kits also did not have this. The chassis that came with my kit was very glossy...full graphite with no white core.
Prior to the pro, Losi used a built in servo saver incorporated into the bellcrank. The x2 came with the standard black parts, while the jrxt came with a “heavy duty” version that was molded in white. Both versions were designed to be used with a standard servo horn, but were prone to breakage if you hit something hard enough. Losi then produced the red version which did not allow any flex. Because of this, a servo saver was needed. The standard servo saver was too short and did not allow enough steering travel, so a larger version (used for trucks) was recommended. Because of the larger size it rubbed on the chassis…which prompted Losi to cut a hole in the chassis for clearance.
Body
The body that was included in the Proformance kit was identical to the jrx pro. The only difference was the cut line for the rear shocks was molded in front of the shock tower. Soon after the release of the kit, factory drivers began mounting the shocks behind the rear shock tower for better traction. Because of this, there were very little quantities of this body produced. This is a very rare body.
Below are some pictures of my car when I first built it. Just after building my car, I wound up mounting the rear shocks behind the tower. You can see how far back the notch was. The jrx pro came out a few months later with the new shock spacer and the new cut lines on the body. When I rebuilt the car a few years ago, I decided to build it back to the proformance kit specs.
The Box
Did you know that there was a typo on the box? I never realized this until I saw a picture on RC10 Talk. I immediately ran downstairs to look at my box and mine had the corrected spelling. The incorrect version had and extra "AN"...PROFORMANANCE (2nd picture). The corrected version is below and you can see that the antenna is now under the "I" in Kit vs. between the 2 words.
For years we’ve been wondering what the colors were on the car pictured on the Proformance kit box. Rich confirmed that the car used Gill’s colors. I found a picture of one of his cars and did a little coloring. I must say that an actual picture is much better than trying to picture it in your mind.
The Kit
The kit came with the following parts:
long chassis
long body
h-arm conversion (these were only available with the kit, then they were released by losi)
new rear pivot blocks
long rear shocks
long front shock tower
new rear shock tower
purple rear springs (stiff)
mini bumper (mounted between the chassis and the bulkhead)
carbide diff balls
updated thrust bearing
and the jr's choice motor
When the pro came out, it had the following differences:
long chassis (later versions had the hole for the large servo)
long body with the cut lines behind the rear shock tower
rear shock spacer
extra long rear shocks
new rear hubs
new rear hinge pin for the hubs that used large plastic e-clips
red bell cranks
red antenna holder
red 86 tooth profiles spur gear
logo wheels
front axles with the set screws
short steering rack
front bumper that mounted below the chassis
new battery box
new top shaft and gear
I’ll be adding additional information including the kit’s instruction manual.
Hope this information was helpful.
Regards,

Re: Jrx2 Proformance Kit
Big thanks for the colour render of the box bodyshell.... it was something I asked in a thread in the 'ebay' section (you've posted your render there too) I'm hoping to re-create that shell design for my JRX2
P.S; the spelling mistake is pure comedy! Its the fact its the largest text on the box!

Re: Jrx2 Proformance Kit
Very useful info here, all in the same place.
Are those "purple rear springs (stiff)"? are they same rate as blue? If I remember right, my proformance kit came with blue rear springs.

The early springs didn't look very nice. There avilable in:Jirka wrote:Very useful info here, all in the same place.

Jirka
silver (soft)
red (extra soft)
green (medium)
purple (firm)
black (progressive) - These were used on the rear of the jrxt and were painted black.
The newer blue springs may have replaced the purple springs.
The only other blue spring came with the kinwald XX...which were actually the rate of the pink springs but painted blue.
The preference of color may have been the only reason that they went from purple to blue. The purple might have been a very dark blue...again, the coloring wasn't very good. The description was just "firm" and it didn't descrive the color.

Roger

Re: Jrx2 Proformance Kit
I think the Pro was released before the Proformance kit was, but don't know about the color of the parts.

Re: Jrx2 Proformance Kit
I am just finishing up all the cars in my collection, or atlease putting the parts with the car for a later date. then I am going to get rid of most of my extras. as my Losi collection is almost complete. I am moveing on to other cars. I have atleast one of every 2wd offroad Losi ever built. I dont need any more.GJW wrote:Proformance kit kit came after the jrx2 and had all black part's and h arm's, what's going on jay and rick??
