Eh, the dining room can get wet- it's your dungeon that the water needs to stay out of-

what did your kid do?

I prefer to find a Hurricane in my dining room.

What's a dining room?
Seriously though, that sucks.

A few years ago I was living in a basement apartment. One night it rained really, really hard. First the toilet stopped working. Then sewage started coming up the bath tub drain. I moved out that night.

joe home owner (that'd be me) accidently put a nail through my baseboard heat copper pipe while installing the new baseboard moldings in the closet of my kids bedroom. i knew it was behind the drywall, just misjudged the nail placement. :x

we caught it pretty much right away when my wife heard water dripping in the dining room (under his bedroom). i knew exactly what happened. so, i shut off the heat and drained the lines. had the rip the new moldings off in his closet, as well open up the drywall.............. that was ready for paint.

cut the pipe out, slid a collar over the hole, soldered it, put the pipe back in with new fittings (everything was cleaned and fluxed) a resoldered the joints. got the heat back up and running and everything seems just fine. no leaks, etc. i also checked it before i went to bed last night just to make sure. all was good. woke up to a ton of f'n water everywhere in dining room. :x

working on fixing it.......... again. hopefully the end result will be better this time around. then i get to replace all of the f'd up drywall in his bedroom, and get more baseboard molding. since i only got enough to do the f'n job once.

it's always something................

Just like an old car , always something. Don't close that up too quick , I speak from experience  . One thing is for certain , its way more embarrassing to do that as a paid professional . Good luck dude .

ya, i'm gonna keep it open for awhile to air out......... and make sure there's not gonna be a round 3.

everything's back together back together now and seems to be ok. but, i thought that last night too.

pretty sure the problem was that the torch was too small. big enough to do 1/2" pipe, but not 3/4". maybe it's just too old and not working properly. you had to put heat on the fitting for way too long before the solder would melt. in the meantime, burning off all of the flux. so, it didn't get a good solid solder joint. my dad stopped at the hardware store and got me the "binford 5000" of propane torches to do it this time. it worked much better. so, fingers crossed.

HI!... That sucks. I hope round two works out for ya.

I thought I had a bad morning. Note to self : Don't wash very large drinking glass in really hot water and proceed to pour really cold milk into said glass. Nothing good comes from it.
