Specktrum module package for older Futaba PCM radio

Someone sent me a link a while back to a package Spektrum sells that plugs in to the rectangular module on an old Futaba pcm radio where the crystal is housed (and the package included a receiver). It gave you 2.4ghz in the old radio body if you turned off the PCM setting.

I can't find the message with the link now and I have been on spektrum's site looking for it. Can anyone help?

I'd also like a link or more info on this. I remember reading about it, but can't remember where.

I don't know if you are dead set on spektrum, but here is a little project I just finished up. I don't know if you have read much about the flysky 2.4 stuff, but rx's are $7 and the gt3 doner radio was $40. So far it has worked glitch free as far as my eyes can see. I took and old ko mars-r, and took the module from a flysky gt-3. Adapted the 2.4 module where the old fm module went, modded up for the 2.4 antenna. I set this up because this radio has 22 model memory, and I am going to go through all my old cars and get them running off this radio. I don't know how this stuff works in a racing setting, but for playing around the house it works like a champ.

Yeah it works fine, was surprised to find that a 20 year old transmitter would take the same module as todays ones. Just have to switch the transmitter to PPM mode (But I think a Magnum AM is PPM only anyway?). Been using the Corona stuff in all my cars for over a year now and it has been good. The 4 channel receivers are tiny, even the 8 channels that they include with the module are about the size of what most 2 channel receivers used to be.

I'm gonna pull the trigger here soon then. And a couple extra receivers I think. If all works well, I will take pics and document the swap over and performance.

@ Junkman, if you could do a step by step with pictures I'd love you forever.

I want to do this to my Mars.

I was thinking about doing this mods, but I decided to order a flysky FS-GT3B and maybe a few more receivers later. Plus I think it would have been more expensive to mod all of them. These were top of the line and a must for gas cars especially the failsafe system seen to many gas cars run away after going out of range. I will keep these stock might be worth something.

Impressive! Great picture, did you see the shots of my NIP 1024 in the vintage electronics section and in my gallery along with my goldpan project?

I really like your trucks thread btw in the Kyosho forum!
