I just want to make sure I have this right.....

I have a SWB CAT (I think it is SWB will get pictures soon and post) and I would like to update the diff. I always had trouble with it even when it was new...there are just SO many parts!!! But from what I have read here, am I correct in understanding that I can replace this with the diff and the layshaft (is that what it is called) from a Pro Cat? Obviously if this is a bolt-on and you have one you want to get rid of let me know

Basically I want to be able to put a fairly mild brushless motor in this this and play with it during practice laps. It seems to be VERY hard to get parts for this car so I want to keep the car as "factory" as possible, but anything that can be updated I would like to do.

Mate the early Cat's and Procats pretty much have the same gearbox side plates (well as far as the diff and layshaft holes go). Infact you can run the same diff and layshaft parts from the Bosscat providing you have the correct eccentrics. I have been dabling with parts from these models for years and retro fitting them back into my Cat runner and they certainly make the difference and ease of set up is also a factor too.

That's right, you can put all sorts of goodies in. I've got a Bosscat slipper, Bosscat super diff, BRP orange belt and MMS nylon front diff in mine...



My car's a right mixture so ignore all that if you want to keep it "factory"

This diff and top pulley conversion seemed quite popular back in the day. It was one I had from a while back.

Sweet... solid gearbox.

Only problem is no slipper for the MMS layshaft... or is there?

This is exactly what I would like to do. I do not want to do things like cutting or grinding...but replacement parts that can be reverted back to original is exactly what I wanna do.

Now to find the parts

I beleive it was Wasp, that made a slipper for the solid MMS/Trinity/Trc/etc. layshaft. So to answer your question, yes there were slipper options for the solid layshaft. But you would be hard pressed to find them in any quantity today. -Jeff
