Why is my Novak faster?

I have a Novak 610 RV and a Traxxas XL-1 that I use on my RC10T3 and I've noticed the Novak is faster on the same car with the same fresh batteries (3K) NIMH packs. Both speed are maxed out as far is the throttle setting. Anyone else had similar results? Thanks.

I'm sure the Novak is built with better components and can pass more current to the motor. That would be my guess, the XL-1 is kind of a cheap esc.

try putting your throttle trim higher while you're already at top speed (keeping it off the ground). If it still accelerates, then you may have hit the maximum adjustment range between dead point and top speed.
that range is not the same for each ESC and you may have to set the dead stop point at a different throttle trim position.
Is there any LED on the XL-1 to indicate you are at top speed? Ifso: that LED should turn on at about 90 to 95% of full throttle
