Very nice. I'm using all black parts on mine. Also, I'm going to add a stealth tranny. Going to have to drill and counter sink some holes but that should be no problem.

Great looking build! Did the mail man get away with all his fingers?

Accually this chassis kit was designed and for sell way before the Lethal Weapon original was even a thought. It was built around the six gear Assoc. tranny. I raced and used an MIP three grear at the time, but before long I was running the Kyosho stuff and Chris was running the Assoc. stuff. It was easier to keep up with the two camps that way.

Trailing arm kits were first, then steering kits and Monster Truck Wheels/truck conversions - then the belt drive thought hit....

This is an OLD picture of the first Machined tranny case before the mold was done. Painted with Parma Floresent yellow of course.

tranny

Nice looking project there Jason, can't wait to see it finished :-)

I'm using the MIP 3 gear tranny in mine and it just bolts right in, no mods.

Thanks for the vintage pics Daryl.

i got a little more done to it today. since i've only been lucky enough to score one mip trans, i stole it out of another unfinished (who'da thought  ) project. cut up a near perfect gold motor plate, and added a nip pair of trinity universals.

So, the transmission sits farther back than on a stock RC10? I mean, the front of the transmission actually has some space between it and the rear bulkhead, right?

there's about a 1/4" gap with the mip trans. i didn't have a stock trans in there at all, so i don't know if there'd be a gap with one of those. i could be wrong, but i think it's designed like that, with the set back, so the outdrives and hubs are inline.

Alright, that makes sense. I was trying to plot where to drill holes for a stealth tranny. When I looked at the holes on the A&L and on the stock RC10, they didn't line up. So, I just have to make sure I make the holes referencing the tranny holes, not the bulkhead holes.

If you can post a top view pic please -
Set up tip the rear suspension will work much better if the out drives on the tranny are 1/8" to 3/16" in front of the axles. suspension does not work at all if outdrives are behind axles.

Imagine a line between the center of the joint of the universal on one side and the one on the other side, you want the centerline of the outdrives of the tranny 3/16" in front of your u joints line.

Hope I'm making myself clear.

Yap, if you're going to race this, move the tranny forward. The top holes are already in the bumper/ top plate. there should be holes in the chassis to move it forward also. Some of the first MIP trannies only had two holes in the bottom at the back.

this trans has the hole towards the front of the case, so it's as far front as it's gonna get. without drilling new holes in the chassis. this bad boy is gonna sit on the shelf anyways, so i'm not worried about it. but i do understand what your talking about.
