I'm there! Getting my stuff ready for the race. Now I need to put in some serious laps with my red RC10 to get some driving time in. I don't think I have run a full battery through the car yet

I can't get the flyer to upload. I talked to Ruffy earlier and he said he'd take care of it later. You can also get more info at

What are the tires of choice at this track?

So far we have found that the JConcepts green Double Dee's or the Proline Holeshot 2.0 work best, depending on your brand preference. The track gets a pretty good groove, but since it's only been open since October we haven't seen what will happen with a little heat on the surface. April down here could be warm, but shouldn't be hot enough to make a huge difference on the surface. Either way, there will be tires available for sale trackside.
Fronts are JConcepts Groovys or Proline 75. I have run front barcodes on my RC10, but only to tone down the steering a little.

I agree with Jeff on the tire choices he mentioned. It seems on this surface if you also run groove proline fronts like I do, they offer much more steering than the equivalent barcode front tires. So if you like a lot of steering as I do, use the groove front tires here.
In the back the tires that work on my RC10 are Losi X-2000's (red), Proline Flat Fuzzies, Proline Holeshots and JC Double Dee's.

I received email confirmation from Jay Halsey today that he will be at the Spring Fling! This is the one for all you vintage racers to check out. In addition to hanging/racing with the first off road world champion, the winner of the vintage class will take home a race built RC10 that I am working on. The car is being built from all NEW parts and will be ready to hit the track. It will also come with a Mr. Lexan Mirage SS body and a custom paint job from Kustomrcgraphics that will be chosen by the winner.
Bring the modern stuff too. I hear there may be new cars to the winners of other classes too!!!!

The Spring Fling will be off the hook. I will also be trying to see if I can get some other notable people to come and race this vintage class and just come out to have a good time.
This will definitely be a gathering of the old racers.
Stay tuned for more, but remember, book early and take advantage of any discounts.
Thanks Jeff!

reggie thought halsey coming to the race would seal the deal for me to go.
but, it's not gonna happen this year. if the race does good and there's a 2nd annual event at the same place, around the same time in april 2012, different story. i'll already be in the orlando area.

We are hoping for this to become an annual event like the old Winterchamps or the Losi race we used to host down here. There are a lot of things in the works for prizes and other "big name racers" to attend. Indoor racing on a large clay track in Florida during the spring with huge prizes and giveaways combined with current/former pro racers. I don't know what more we can offer!!!

If I didn't live 800 miles away, I'd be there.
Will Jay be driving an RC-10 or a vintage Losi?

I'm not sure yet. I am trying to figure out exactly what he wants to do. Obviously it would be a lot easier for me to set him up with an RC10 (and would be better nostalgia) but in the end it really doesn't even matter if he races. Just being there is cool enough.
Since there will be all the modern classes, maybe he will just want to lay the smackdown with his SC truck.
