I just got this sickly looking 870C from one of the members here. I ended up throwing some old AE shocks on it so it can at least stand on all fours.

Overall I am super happy with the car and will provide an excellent base for an outstanding build. I hope to start gathering parts for the car very soon. First up is some CF sheet for a new chassis, shock towers, battery straps, and an upper brace.

DW911 has some nice looking chassis parts in the BST area.

It should turn out great.

I tried getting the diffs torn down but they are siezed, LOL.

I may end up having to soak the parts in some PB blaster or something to help free them up for dissasembly.

This is going to be a fun car to build, I love a challenge.

That sucks, I never even played with the diff's on that car, I had two i made one out of. I have a new set of original front and rear tires in the mail, So ill have an extra set of front rubber if you need them.

They are locked solid like spools,

No problem here, it makes it that much more worth it to get it going again. I am probably going to mount some 2.2s to the car so I can run a new rubbers. Old rubbers just don't compare to todays.

I have tried everything I could to get the diffs apart on this car but they are not budging at all. I was able to get the rear diff loose but the it looks like the screw was JB welded in.

I am going to throw the diffs in my mill and cut off the head of the bolt and hopefully get the outdrives apart. I beleive I also may be seeing super glue on the parts as well. Only time will tell on this one. Photos after I get one diff apart

good luck! the bolts will probably be pretty hard. probably will want to use a cobalt drill if ya got 'em. if you can at least get the head off so you can get the plastic parts off, try heating up the diff hub, that should loosen the screw's hold. maybe a small propane torch, etc, while trying to unscrew the stub.

I got the rear diff apart and found the following;

Super glued diff rings
No diff balls
JB welded diff screw

Man this guy must have been some serious racing back in the day

Regardless, I was able to save everything except the diff screw. I should be able to find a 2mm socket head machine screw pretty easily.

Off to do the front now.

Now lets hope I can get the other half out of the outdrive.

heat is your friend.....apply heat to the diff hub shank where the bolt is, try not to heat the bolt up first.

I unfortunately don't have a heat source here at the house.

I threw a carbide endmill in the machine and slowly took the head off of the bolt. Once it was gone I was able to pull the diff apart. I was able to get the other part of the screw out of the outdrive so I saved the complete rear diff. I need to figure out what to do abotu all the glue and JB weld now.

I have a 2mm tap you can use to clean out the threads if you PROMISE not to break it. or just replace it if it's broke....

Or, you can probably burn it out if you hold it over the flames of a stove, or even a lighter.....
