Just received this NIB kit today. Looking forward to buiilding and running it later this year...

Anyone have any tips on setting up this one?

Nice kit. Just checked out your blog and liked how everything was nice and neat inside the box. The box art car kind looks like an AYK buggy. I built a pro radiant for my neighbour back in the day and it kinda looked like that. Once again nice kit.

Italian car , I think they mostly made engine powered stuff but had a rebranded 1/12th carpet racer from them (the SG logo was engraved in the fiberglass chassis).
There's a 4WD version of this car also and Tamiya-club has more info on it also.

you could find some parts at Mantua factory in Italia.
steering system must be carefuly assembled .
ball bearing must be used every time it could be.

I thought that at first, too...but the more I look at it, the body's roof-line, front & side windows, even the hood, sides & rear end look decidedly Optima-like. If you cover the wheels & front end with your hands, it looks too close to be accidental or coincidental...what year was this car released?

It looks like a tomahawk also, or an AYK trailblaster... they were radiocontrolled modelcars and the bodies resembled what was racing in full scale at the Baja events

I bought and assembled one recently. Probably got it from the same guy you got yours from, he had a bunch. Its a cool looking car but I don't think it will be much of a runner. The whole car is pretty inefficient, the suspension pivots are stiff, the arms flex like crazy, the gear diff is far from smooth, etc.

I always liked the way it looked and thats why I bought one. My shelf is a high bite surface with no jumps or turns so it should handle good enough for that!

lol... thanks for the review. Shelf-based tracks are always easy on cars. <grin>

I'm curious to see what performance if any can be milked from this car.

Have this and a used AYK Boost as projects to build - I'm sure the Boost will have the performance edge but this car has so much character!

I recently came into two used cars that were both 2WD. I have since rebuilt them into one 4WD.

The stock tyres are the most useless items i have ever seen. My race buddy back in the day had two of these cars and they were terrible to drive.

They rereleased a later version with metal gears which certainly helped out a great deal as the plastic ones used to chew out with anything more than the stock silver can motor.

I am confident these could be modified into capable vintage race cars and that is my aim with what i have. They look cool too.

The body is a rip off from the AYK 566B Supertrail by the way.

For the coyote, ball bearing everywhere, balls in arms must be free, the spring are so hard and the arms make the suspension,
the plastic gear are breakable, used steel gear from option or TAG Pro 10 but hard to find, I see to mount the B44 gearing on, not totally sure
but I think it's good, and the plastic high shock mount are breakable too...
