I've had this car for a while now, keeping it untouched on the shelf while trying to figure out how I could put some personal touches on it.
It wasn't easy; there's not even beaten paths for these cars; too good out of the box, too unpopular for most aftermarket suppliers to put out dedicated parts. Luckily that's not he kind of stuff I care for anyway

So what did I end up using?
- a pair of kyosho ultima gear-diff out-drives
- a pair of Tamiya GT-10 wide axles with an extra bit of 5mm brass tubing
- a pair of kyosho ultima dogbones
- a pair of traxxas rad2 axle carriers
- Kyosho-pro-x rear shocktower
- kysoho ultima steering posts with yokomo YR-4 spacers
- recycled; stripped and repaint, lowered Kyosho Triumph body
- some 20plus year old decals from a brand which name I can't even read
- traxxas rad2 (?) wingmounts
- Academy Griffin-Pro wing wire, wing-fix and wing

The idea behind the changes to the rear-end: I don't like the plastic joints on the telescoping axles. added benfit: I can switch to Hex driven wheels with minimal effort: with some some HPI axles or even Ultima-RB5 CVD's.

I haven't run it yet: the electronics still have to be installed and one of the diffrings has a crack in it.

I really like the look of that car with the triumph body. Nothing like a car which you can really call your very own!

Thanks, yes , I really like to put my own stamp on my cars. In this case it's not a major make-over or built from scratch but I'm pretty happy with the result for now. Here's the "wheel-off" picture: you can see how the replaced axle carrier puts the axle higher up. That was necessary to have the dogbone level. With theoriginal carrier the dogbone got pressed into the gearbox when the arm travellled up. The red copper tube sit on the 4mm end behind the tread, The outside of the tube is 5mm just like the rest of the axle and original traxxas axle. I can either put an HPI axle, or use the ultima RB5 CVD to mount 12mm hex wheels on it. Basically it's a question of popping off the toplink, swap the axle and ready.

Running performance... could take some time; I've got about 5 or more offroad cars built in the last year and haven't gotten around to drive even one of them.
The list of mostly ready but still un-run cars: mid, lazer, MX4, MR-4Bug, Academy Griffin Pro, Hotdog, this TCP and a couple ultima's.

Hopefully next year will have more opportunities to get them on the tracks. The last couple months my chances already turned for on-road: raced my home-built 1/18th truck, Plazma mk1 or 2 and YR-4

This car is on my wishlist. I really like the idea of replacing the plastic joints with RB5 parts. Great idea.

DEFINITELY like the Triumph body on this car. I'm not a fan of the triumph body per se, but it does look good here. And, much better looking than the original body too.

Looks great Mr. Ed...I will be getting a TCP soon, I will be looking into RB5 CVDs for it.

I plan on running it.

make sure you get the old style ones and use the 2mm spacer between the bearing and crosspin. Without the extra offset on the wheel the rim may touch the arms

Was thinking of using the "proline" rear axles, so I can run B4 rear wheels.

Which RB5 universal set? I've found 2 different ones so far, 62.5mm & 65.5mm ?

the longer ones are for the SP (or whatever it's called)

If you have to buy the set and replace the axles I'd be happy to buy the original axles from you
