1/4" Axles

What other trucks came stock with 1/4" axles and carriers that will work with the RC10T? Are the others, such as the T3, T4 all 3/16" axles? Is it worth converting to the 3/16" axles because parts seem to be easier to find.

I think converting to 3/16 hubs/axles is a good idea if you plan on running modern wheels.

3/16 is the way to go if its gonna be anything more than a shelfer. You get better bearing life with a 3/16 over a 1/4 any day. bearing ball is a little bigger making it a little bit sturdier for loss of a better way to describe it I guess...

Is there an aftermarket aluminum set of castors and knuckles for the front and knuckles that are 1/4" for the rear? Can find the front, but to rear. Are the GT rear knuckles 1/4" or 3/16"

the rear carriers are interchangeable, the bearings are different between the axles, 1/4 bearings are very thin, while the 3/16 are like what you use on the front wheels, a thicker bearing (when viewed as it rides on the axle).

On all my GT I went to 3/16" unless I went to the rpm carriers that went to a 1/2"x1/4" bearing. Got tired of every other tank of fuel replacing bearings. As for the front I have no idea. Wasn't ever much into the aluminum but went with a ft t3 front end to widen the stance up. Ebay is pretty much the best place to find aluminum gt parts. Seems there is plenty of aftermarket companies still making or selling off old stock aluminum hopups.

Is then why there is listing for front inline axles that say wide? How much of a better apperance does it give the truck, also does it make it easier to drive?

missed this one...the stock hubs/axle carriers are 3/8"

if you mean how much wider it made it from stock to t3 front end I believe it widened the stance about 5/16". What I ran on for an oval it made a noticeable difference and made it more stable in the corners. Here is a link for the parts to a t3 steering on the gt and if you want to check out more info on the gt/gt2 check the site out:

there is tons of info on the gts there. Hope this helped...
