Ive been a bit bored without my Subaru to mess with until I get it retuned. This afternoon was nice, so I pulled out the RC10 worlds car for a spin and decided to strap my GPS to it for a speed test. Here are the results!

42mph absolute stop speed on a fresh battery. The car is capable of more speed, but then it loses its punch if I gear it higher. So, I have it geared pretty low right now for some fun and still pretty decent speed. Not bad for a 20 year old car with some upgraded electronics.


Running set up
-Mamba Max 7700kv Brushless Motor and Speed Control
-7.2v 5000mah NIMH from cheap batterypacks.com
-Modern B2/B3 rear axle conversion
-RPM front A-arms as I kept breaking the Associated parts

That's a cool feature on certain GPS systems. My cousins have one and we loaded up a Midnight Pumpkin with 10 cells and a 9 turn brushed motor about 4 years ago. Got it to 57 with about 3 extra pounds strapped to the front bumper. A Midnight Pumpkin is about as out of control as it gets at 25 mph, much less 57. Drilled a mailbox post on the second pass. It's fun to lay down a high speed run every once in a while. Those mamba systems are beasts. At least nothing broke...this time...

Sounds like fun. I have been running the mamba system for about 2 years without issue so far. I had the car geared higher at one point out in a college parking lot and it would just flip over at speed as the air would get a hold of the front end. I never clocked it then though.

My buddy has one of the traxxas russler kits with a brushless setup and lipos and it puts my RC10 to shame.

I've seen and used a lot of brushless set-ups and nothing beats the Mamba Max with any motor 4600kv or above in a 1/10th scale car when it comes to power. I still have some Mamba Max and Castle Sidewinder escs, but I never use any of them in combination with one of their motors because it's just too much in my opinion. Your battery might need to be cycled or replaced. Don't get me wrong, that is more than enough speed for any car in my opinion(I prefer about 20 mph to be honest), but a Velinion shouldn't outrun it. Assuming that's what's in his Rustler. As far as 1/10th scale cars that I've run a Mamba Max 5700 in, the Losi Slider is the most controllable. Flat out flies with plenty of wheelies yet controllable. I could only guess speed, but I'd say 50 easy with a strong 2s lipo. Tons o fun.

I dont think my batteries need to be cycled. The car doesnt really seem any faster or slower than it did when I first got it. I was told a lipo would get the most out of my setup, but felt it was overkill, so i stuck with the 6 cell NIMH. I went with the packs I did because that is what cheapbatterypacks.com indicated I would need to run the 7700. I also didnt have a charger for the lipos and didnt want to spend the extra money.

My friend with the Rustler does have a Velineon on the stock gearing and is running a 3s lipo, which I believe would cause of the speed difference over my Mamba 7700.

My car doesnt pull wheelies on the pavement anymore since I switched from Proline dirt hawgs to the Traxxas Anaconda. The dirt hawgs had more traction, but wore out quickly. The Anacondas seem to last a decent amount on pavement, but dont have the raw grip. I can easily spin the tires and get sideways with the Anacondas. I actually find this more fun than the wheelies!

42 is pretty damn impressive.

Is that a Nuvi? The GPS that is.

those mamba max's are crazy. With the same make of GPS, I got 44mph using the 5700 in my 10t buggy thingy, probably could have gone faster but had to turn around.
