I just got my pile of RC 10 parts yesterday.
It is much better shape then I thought it would be. I still think I will dye the parts black.
I haven't dyed these things in 27 years, when I did it back in the day I dyed the parts separately. This car came to me in sub assembles, will they dye OK just throwing the assembly in or will it come out better taken all apart?

Take them apart, take all metal parts off of the pieces. Steel rusts, Aluminum corrodes, no need to put those things in boiling water if you don't have to.

My wife is gonna love me... again. LOL!!
She will be a shelf queen so it will need to look good. It appears I bought a champion car, it has the wider front end arms and the shocks with the black caps on it. It didn't come with the tranny, so I'm not sure which one it came with, but I picked a 6 speed one for it cheap.
I never had one of these cars, I always had the first gold pans.

a trick to keep the wife happy....

use an aluminum foil tray (you know the type, from the grocery store) outside on your bbq...on low of course, no need for grilled parts...

keeps the mess off her dishes and out of the house.

got second that recomend the dye will splatter and steam off all over the place. Doing in on the grill outside is the best course of action to ensure domestic tranquility. If you got to do it on the stove, turn down the heat. it doesn't need to vigorously boil.
