I just purchased a set of duratrax bx front rims and nitro rear rims for my RC-10, like scr8p recommended in his topic ".*Parts needed to run modern 2.2 rims/tires on your rc10*". I followed what SteveK did, in his reply on this topic and did a little surgery on the rear wheels. I first noticed that the bell part of the rear axle of the RC-10 was wider than the hole in the duratrax nitro rim.

So I used my dremel with a 952 Aluminum Oxide Grinding bit to widen the area that the bell part of the axle will set in the wheel.

Next I found the area in the rear wheels where the rolled pin rides was to small, the roll pins are the pins that holds the axle on the car (and where the rear wheel are held on to the axle) So I took my Dremel with a 7/64 drill bit and widened and deepened the area.

After I was able to put the wheels on the car I noticed that the axle hole that is there from the manufacture is to big for the RC-10 axles. Which made it hard to get them to tighten up true. I found that 3/16 Aluminum tube fits over the rear axle of the RC-10 great, but was to big for the hole in the wheel. I took a 3/16 drill bit and drilled the hole out in the rear wheel - I did this by hand - there was not that much material to remove. I then cut two 3/8 long pieces of the Aluminum tubing and pressed them in the front of the wheel where I just used the 3/16 drill bit.

I then put the rear wheels on the axles and tightened them down with a wrench - I couldn't be happier with the run out of the wheels. Seems to be true enough for me, more true than the original RC-10 rear wheels !!

Cool tutorial. I had to ream out the center of my Duratrax wheels to fit the 3/16" axles too.

I actually thought about taking all the 1/4" axles to a machine shop and getting them turned down to 3/16", but I think they are too small near the threads to fit properly. Reaming out the wheels is a good option to extent the life of the old axles.
