I thought I would show you guys some Tamiya buggies that started the off road craze. The Rough Rider and Sand Scorcher were based off the same chassis affectionately known as the SRB (special racing buggy) chassis. These came out in 1979 and spawned a whole genre of off road racing.

Here is my runner rough rider that has a few choice hop ups, but only ones that improve the durability and slightly improve performance.

Here is my pride and joy; my scratch built Sand Scorcher with first generation MIP 4WD kit. This Baja bug is almost built entirely of period aftermarket parts.

After Racing took hold, Tamiya tried to make a competitive buggy by introducing the super champ. But by that time, the Kyosho Scorpion and others were lapping it on the track. Here’s my Super Champ

That 4WD is intriguing: is relying on the twist of a cable in taht guide?
can't really be that effective but definitely very different.
