Stuck CVD pins

I am trying to remove the pins so I can separate the CVD from the hub carrier. The pins are stuck. I have tried soaking them and freezing them. They are seized!

Any ideas?

do you mean the roll pin in the axle that mates with the wheel, or the actual CVD pin that goes through the cup and joint assembly?

for the axle pin, a pair of pliers to push out one side, or for either, a small punch and hammer on a vise or other solid surface is what you gotta do....

if i have a really stuck axle pin, i usually open the jaws of a vise so that the axle can't fall through but the pin can, and use a hammer and punch/nail/broken jewelers screwdriver, whatever fits, to drive the pin out. the other thing you can do is grip it in the jaws of the vise, and pry the axle up and away from the vise jaw with a screwdriver.

I use small pliers, one part on top of pin other on bottom of axle and it pushes it down through the axle.Alot of times the top of the pin on both ends is smashed and may need a little fileing to pass through the axle hole.DON
ps:if rusted use PB Blaster penetrating oil let it soak a while to loosen

I finally got them out. I was afraid to hammer them - feared they would mushroom out - but they both popped.

Thanks guys.

Get yourself a pin punch set from the hardware store. I had been using pliers to hammer and yank the roll pins in and out of my axles for YEARS and never tried one (have some nicely scratched axles and topshafts to show for it). I did a few years ago and was kicking myself for not doing it sooner.
