bruiser steering

I never put any attention on tamiya 3 speed trucks before. but I got little interest in it after my old friend gave this bruiser to my kids last month.

the first thing I did was putting kimbrough servo saver then I put this RC4WD steering parts. of course kimbrough worked but this part didn't

so, I moved steering servo on the front end. I belived it would work. and did. a small aluminum plate and RC10 servo mount did the trick. and I had to move the front shocks backward

I found a problem on the tranny linkage. also I found a sloution in my part box. it was a kimbrough composite pinion. remove the gears then put it with an AE ball stud

it runs better now

Moving the steering servo to under the front brace is a common mod. I recall a few years ago someone made a CNC brace that incorporated a servo mount. Just make sure to use a waterproof servo as it's exposed to the elements. In the end though you will find the sterring is still sloppy becuase of loose tolerances between the sterring knuckle and axle. You can shim it with aluminum cans but it only last so long.

I believe it was Engle who was the first to make an aluminum mount for a front mounted servo on the Bruiser. He made the single speed pulling transmission too. I had one of each on my Bruiser.

I wouldn't worry about the slop. It's a Bruiser, it was never meant to be a super precise racing machine.

Cool , this is still the only Tamiya platform (same as the hylux?) I ever wanted. Looks awesome and weathered all at the same time.

Very similar in concept but very few parts interchange between the two models.
