Hey everyone,

I picked up an EZrun brushless setup for a goldpan retrofit. I hooked everything up per the instructions, programmed the ESC with the handheld card and set the throttle positions to the transmitter. The ESC is mounted to the shocktower and the receiver is not touching the pan.

Everything works - response from front servo and motor.

When I turn on the car, after about 10 seconds it jumps to full throttle. No stuttering or lack of power, just wide effin open. Any ideas? I've re-set the ESC twice and tried multiple rec's. I'm at a loss.

Sounds like the transmitter insn't programed to the ESC properly. Also, Make sure you're transmitter batteries are good. If they are weak it won't want to bind correctly.

I reprogrammed the transmitter/esc and I made a little plastic stand to hold the receiver. It's better but there is still a little something there, it still will blast off on it's own every once in a while - it always stops when I hit the brakes but I hate taking that chance.

Holy cow these brushless motors are fast! I have a 8.5t in this gold pan and I'm just running a 4200mah 6 cell, I can't wait to put a lipo in this thing.

What type of radio? A pic of your layout might hold some answers too.

the radio is a Traxxas TQ 2.4GHz (I picked up the radio and receiver off ebay for 40 bucks)

Looks like a good solid runner. I don't see any obvious issues. Maybe try setting some braking into the esc? Brushless motors freewheel very easily and even a tap of the throttle can get them going pretty quickly again. I would set it for a little bit of electric brake and see if that brings it under control. If not, you may just have a bad esc. If you never have any problems with erratic steering then the rx is prolly fine. I'm not real familiar with the EZ runs though. Maybe someone else has a better answer. Good luck.

that's a good idea, I'll try to add a little brake and see if that helps.

it's a pretty clean GP. My plan is to build up one of my graphite chassis but I couldn't wait to see how the brushless performed.
