ok ive never even looked at a brushless motor in person i never needed to but it seems like i just need (want) a littlle more i want to take my gold pan and do one of these wats old is new cars ive been seeing on here they ROCK but sadly i know nothing about these motors ive been eyeing a motor i found its a 540r with a 4900kv brushless from reedy i love the old reedy modified in fact i run a brushed reedy on my carpet racer i was just wondering if this is a good motor i want something insane (borderline overkill) is this a good choice and how do the lipo batteries improve this or should i stick to my ni-mh and ni-cds??? please help

That is the set up I have. On the test runs, it was insane. Instant wheelie on the goldpan.... You do need to program it, but the directions are fairly simple on that score.

From what I understand, LiPo batteries supply a longer burst rate and more constant power than ni-mh and ni-cds. Because of the nature of brushless motors, the function better with this constant power rate...

Lipo is also much lighter than nicad or nimh. With a good 2s lipo, you should be right about at the level of insanity you seek

I may very well be the cheapest person on here.
I run the ezrun systems in my B2 and sons Bandit.
The 4000kv motor in the B2 was very nice.
Instant wheelies and good control.
With 2S 5000 lipo.
He now has the 4000kv in the Bandit.
Now the B2 has the 6000kv
with 2s lipo and is crazy fast.
I stay mostly on road.
The B2 is not as good of a basher as the Bandit.
The front end is too weak.

I know it isn't the 6 gear tranny
Anyway from 4000kv - 6000kv you will be happy !!!!

The lipo will give you full power from battery,
until the cut off.
With NIMH ,vehicle slows down as the battery discharges.
You will not have this with lipo.
Lipo will feel fresh the whole 20-30 min., then instant cut off.
7 cell nimh is still good with brushless.
My lipo and ESC never get warm.
NIMH and ESC ,
with same set up, do generate more heat.
