Vonats builds

Well I hate wings, I love my buggy but the wing tubes SUCK. I found a nice hard plastic wing. Also I have wanted to do this for a while. I drilled my shocktower and added XX wing mounts. and I cut the body off so it is infront of the tower, this is great a lot easer to get in to and looks so much cleaner. the xx body fits great with the rear section removed. I added a Jammin Jay servo mount/ steering brace. its cool and stiffens up the front a lot. some new tires and I still need a radio set up. I want a brushless , but for now I have a brushed in it to sort it out as much as I can with no track to run it on.

Rick, where did you find the Jammin servo mount? I DEEPLY regret selling my LXT with it. any chance of you tracing/scanning the actual size to try to recreate it?

Well I decided to put a truck together for the race also. so I am calling this junkyard dog. as I am building it out of what ever I have lying around, and we will see how it runs? I had a pro se sitting their, so I put a set of RPM truck arms on it, a LXT front tower. re did the shocks i put the long shocks on it like that would be on the LXT. I left the pro se rear tower on it, for clearence mostly. I had a nip HPI MX1 hummer body left over from my racing days. thats what I ran on my T4 to be different. I need to get the lxt spindles for the front, to fit the wheels I have. here is what I have so far. its not quite as wide as a lxt but it should run ok? well see

Rick, have you noticed that the rear toe in changes as the suspension compresses? I have RPM arms on the back of my JRXT and the losi #1 rear pivot block and I have noticed the toe in goes from I'm guessing -3 degrees to zero when fully compressed. I am thinking of swapping out to Losi H arms to see if this cures it.

that doesn't even sound possible. That said, maybe it's an antisquat interaction? thats the only way a change in Z would affect a change in Y direction with fixed hinge pins.....unless something is broken.

I was sorta thinking the same thing, I just wasn't sure if I was thinking about that right or not. Pictures would be good ;)

yes I did, but its how I raced my jrxt back in the day. it doesnt affect me with my lack of any driveing skills? I dont know how the H arms would make it better, wouldnt it be the same? all the RPM arms do is make it a little wider?

What rear wing is that.??

I hate plastic wings and been looking for a molded wing for a while.

Thanks.

Concerning you rear toe question. This is often a phenomenon one gets with flexible arms. The arms twist because the shock is mounted on the front side of the arm. as the suspension is compressed, the rear of the arm flexes upward in relationship to the front (because the shock is resisting it), and it gets shorter, causing the hub to toe out. This is why I always use the most rigid rear arms available on my cars. Everythig else can flex, just not the rear arms. -Jeff

thats a good point but for the Losi car I dont belive their is a better arm than the RPM ones. I miss read the earler post? mine doesnt change /toe more Camber kinda like a Sand Scorcher the top of the tire goes in when compressed. bui I think it will handle ok. I kept up with T4's with mine for a long time. I dont have any lxt arms to compaire the with, this is more of a JRXT with a plastic chassis. I just recieved some front end parts we will see if it even runs at all.

I believe you are right with the twist theory. When I first saw it, I was thinking how the hell is that happening? The rear arms are extremely flexible! I think that is the culprit especially since the lower rear shock mounts stand off the arm almost 3/4". I swapped out the RPM arms for the very rigid H-arms, and lo and behold, no loss of toe in.

Yeah, the "H" arms are propably the stiffest arms ever made  . -Good luck, -Jeff
