Here is a picture of my B44 with my RC10 MIP 410L.

I got this car when I was 15 and sold it to a friend back in '92 or '93. I contacted him a few years ago and he still had it in mint condition but added the A&L chassis brace. He sold it back to me for what I sold it to him back in the day. The price was low so I sent him an extra $50. Just happy to have it back! I have some plans for this build that will take place in the next few months so stay posted.

I'm curious if you like your B44?

I really like the B44. I raced a JC BJ4WE before buying the B44 and the B44 is a big improvment. Before Lipo became standard I had the Mid44 conversion and ran 5 cell NiMh configuration and had a lot of good results with it. I tried running Lipo in the Mid44 chassis but could never get the weight right. I just bought a Durango DEX410 but have not raced it yet so I can't say if I like it better than the 44 yet.

If you get a B44 make sure you get the new motor mount. It makes pinion/motor changes 10,000 times easier.

Thanks Bully. There will be a thread on my 410L later. It's currently sitting in storage waiting for me to move to Italy in September. Once I get there I can contribute a lot more here.

I'm curious as to whether you've (or anyone else reading this) ever driven a MIP 4wd converted RC-10.... i'd love to know how they handled - compared to say an equivilent 4wd car of the time (Yokomo/CAT etc) I'm guessing they must drive similar to an early rear motored Optima?

Also - where do they fit in the timeline of things - were they available before the release of the mid-motored 4wd cars?

P.S; both are very nice cars by the way 8)

I've never driven my 4wd RC10 but I briefly ran my cable drive scorcher. I suspect that the rc10 would be like the first gen optima in weight distribution. The Optima came out in '85 which is the same year the RC10 did so the MIP wouldn't have enjoyed that much glory. I would think a purpose built 4wd would runcircles around a conversion

I had a MIP conversion that I ran back in the day! I thought it was better than my Optima Mid SE. So I sold the Optima Mid quickly! When I got my Yokomo 870C, I quickly sold the MIP car. The 870c was so much better! Now I wish I still had the MIP car! One day I will find one for the right price. I can't justify spending the amount they go for these days!

In the words of Homer Simpson...... 'DOH!'

Slotcarrod - i'm surprised you found the Optima Mid not to your liking... I always found them lovely cars to drive :?:

DerbyDan - Don't get me wrong! I really enjoyed driving the Optima Mid SE! The track I ran on was very rough and the MIP converted RC10 Team Car just turned better lap times than the Mid SE! That was a long time ago and I'm not sure why. Maybe my setup was poor, but I don't think it was! The track was very near my house. Walking distance, so I would try many different setups if one did not work or feel right.

yeah, they would be awesome cars to own now. No regrets though.....I loved racing and i always wanted the next best thing. i bought a B2 and a yr4m2. sedan racing was huge and there was a lot of excitement about ae coming out with a totally new car.
4wd off road never caught on anywhere so they had to go. i have own a b44 and race a xx4. off the subject but 4wd off road is where its at!
