I sometimes get the urge to tear things down when they stop working. My Black and Decker Grasshog XP whipper snipper all of the sudden stop doing it's thing and began sounding like a hair dryer. As far as the hair dryer thing...my wife's routine every morning...maybe I can make her a new one now
Took it apart and sure enough, just what I thought, I stripped something
I knew I seen something like this before

I bet I will end up buying a whole new whipper snipper just because I cant order a $4 part

I guess the proper question would be, what was it you were trying to cut through to grind the gear up? I have a tendency to weedwack anything that still stands after mowing, so I have to keep with something gas powered!

Unfortunately, that is all too often the case.

What he's not telling you is that he removed the tip and installed an implement of a different variety ...

You got lucky with the warranty period, just make sure that the new machine starts the warranty over and you don't get stuck with a piece of poop in 30 days.
When I bought mine, it was a choice between an Echo and a Stihl, unfortunately I went with the Stihl. I've not really had any trouble with it, but I really love my Echo chainsaw, and wish that I'd have stuck with them for the string trimmer.
Unfortunately, they didn't have the whole clip where George checking out all the merchandise, then picks up the power tool and is pulling the starter rope below camera.
