TGV new speed record

I have to share this. My french buddies does not seems to be pround of this... :wink:

It is an exceptional achievement, especially on regular commercial rail road. Maybe that will convince the Californian state to get those trains? 8)

I doubt we will ever see a train like that here in California. There are too many vocal greenie weenies that would kil the project

I guess it is like everywhere in the world, it is going to end up with a political fight. :D They are so funny. At least there is one good point, California is, again, ahead of other states.

While High speed rail seems like a good idea, I just don’t think it’s sensible. First you have to look at the costs. They estimate it to cost 26 Billion dollars and it will be financed through the sale of bonds which will have to be paid back at a substantially higher cost than 26 Billion. Second, you have to look at the environmental impact. The construction and operating of the system would consume far more energy than it could ever save.
