i've been doing some looking around and comparing the different brushed and brushless set ups. any ideas on which to go with?

Come on guys, this should be in the tech section not in the buggy section!

let me ask you, in this day and age why would you go with brushed? brushless setups are so cheap

brushed requires some investment and time, brushes, maintainence tools, etc etc

that is cheap.............first time i've seen them that low every else wants like 195 to 250 bucks.................any ideas for radio gear?

gonna race or gonna bash, they make a bunch of 2.4ghz radios cheap, higher end stuff for racing is still higher end, most of the options arent needed, as long as a radio has a end point adjustment you should be good.

it's pretty much gonna be just a runner.............something to play around with out in the gravel driveway

I have run both Novak and castle brushless systems. While I like them both for different reasons I think castle builds a better quality and dependable product. I am anxiously awaiting the new Mamba Pro to test that utilizes both sensor and sensor-less configurations. I absolutely love brushless and will never go back to brushed anything and this really has nothing to do with speed for me. I like how they are pretty much maintenance free and keep operating temperatures really low, not to mention they put out better more consistent performance as well.

I have had problems with my Novak Havoc 3S sensored system, and they aren't yet resolved, but I'm sold on sensored being better for jumping, as the throttle control is buttery.

I also got really tired of how hard castle motors are to disassemble and clean/maintain.

I still need to get around to trying my Tekin Sensored/Sensorless hybrid system. I'm just still really bummed that my Havoc 3S keeps shutting down.

That is exactly why I am going with the Mamba Pro. I will be running Novak motors with it. Cleaning now easy again.

you can't go wrong with the mamba pro's. there smart sense mode switches from sensored(take off and braking) to sensorless when on the throttle. and then theres the c.h.e.a.t. mode with timing advance. i have been running a mamba pro 1s and a novak 17.5 in my latemodel and this setup rips with a 1s lipo

I have run my Castle CM5700 in my T4 for all of 2009 and have never had to clean it or maintain it.

LRP SXX TC and a X-12 motor. Hard to beat that combo.

Perhaps, but that combo cost nearly $300.

Smurf, what are you sticking this in? I like to stay slightly period correct so I have brushed in my older cars...and my Lazer ZX-5 FS and then Tekin brushless Cougar SV and LRP in my B4. Both nice systems but too damn expensive.

i have the origional servo, speed controller and radio reciever ( not sure if they work) i'm just lacking a radio controller and a motor, i wanna go with period correct parts but no place has them, and no one seems to have any thing that will work in my car
