I have had these almost as long as I have had my buggy.

So I am not sure if they are just showing age or if they are not geared right when I use them.

Any ideas?

I know the one on the left is not old... it is an Orion 8T

What exactly are you asking?

All CAM modified motors look alike. You can't really tell anything about those motors with that photo. Take it apart and look at the arm. Most major motor builders would etch the wind on the arm barrel, if not on the endbell or can.

The other two appear to be machine-wound mods, and I can't be of much help there. They are all probably in need of a comm cut and new brushes & springs. Mod motors draw a lot of amps and make a lot of power, and thus need to be maintained often.

The Orion is only a couple yrs old, and I know all I need to.

The other two I know nothing about. The guy at the hobby shop took advantage of me as a teenager.

Are they good motors? It sounds as if you are saying the cam is hand wound... is that good? Is it worth working on?

The speed works motor, has anyone ever heard of it or know anything at all about it?

It would be nice to know how many turns these motors are and if they are worth fixing up or should I just replace them?

IMO the CAM is a keeper, and the Speedworks is a paper weight. CAM motors were mostly found on the carpet and paved ovals around the country, but had good yeas in 1/12th road racing, too. You didn't see them often in off road cars or non-pan cars.

Depending on the wind of that motor, it's probably at least good for a shelfer, if nothing else. I have one in my motor collection, as they were really strong motors back in the late 80s.
