so im doing a ups Taurus number 88 car based on a you guessed it a powdered brown DS chassis but im kinda stumped on what colours to use i have this pic thats been my screen saver so any pointers as to what brown to use or were i can get it from ive only painted a couple of body's so this is all new to me i think the hardest part was cutting the excess clear sticker material once i had applied the decal

i've never seen brown lexan paint, so your gonna have to custom mix it. green and orange will make brown. might have to add a little yellow, white....... whatever you think you need to get it close. match it to the brown decals already on the body, and do a test on some scrap lexan before you commit to it.

I found this Parma Faskolor brown but you'll need an airbrush if you're covering a large area.

dam i should have done ups nice easy colours

i have based this whole build on some old decals i found

so that faskolor cant be brushed

It can be brushed on but I don't know if its a good idea to cover large areas using that method. Usually you use a brush for the details like head and tail lights, grills, trim, etc...

You have a great start to that body. Brushing that large of surface is going to leave streaks. Look for a airbrush and a compressor. I have a airbrush city gravity feed and small craftsman compressor that I use.Not that big of a investment. A airbrush is the way to go and will last forever if taken care of. Great set of decals . Autographics?

well fortunate enough to have a lot of compressors being a carpenter its a given ,giant ones right down to a little one i use for my 23 gauge pin gun
but the spay gun i wouldn't know where to start

Think I paid like $22 or so at walmart.
The end of the hose screws onto the can of propellant. The can has the same standard threads as air hose adapters so you can screw in a male quick connect and just use your compressor.

For serious airbrush work like fades and shadows this is basically useless.
For covering big areas of lexan with a solid color, this does nicely. I use this with the fascolor type paints with great results.

Heres the one that I have. Using a 3 gallon craftsman compressor to run it.

oh i know i painted my lazer sport with the yellow 5 coats latter and it still has brush lines in it

Why make it so difficult on yourself. Get a jug of the Parma paint and a cheap refillable aerosol sprayer and make it happen. Something like this:

Might have to thin it a bit like using an airbrush, I've never used the Parma paint. Do a little practice and see what works best.

My wife's maiden name is "Brown". I always loved to take full advantage of seeing the commerical on TV, "What can Brown do for you?"..... "I can think of quite a few things!" She never did any of them.

Off topic, but I thought I'd share nonetheless.

Looks good so far.

Just go to the arts & crafts section of wally world and pick up a bottle of acrylic paint. It will be too thick to spray out of the bottle, but a little distilled H20 will get it the right consistency. They have many of the not-too-exciting colors to choose from (ie brown). Folk art is one of the brand names. There is another but I can't remember it.

thanks Brandon i stood in my lhs this morning with a bunch of paint i was going to mix and put them back im glad i did . i got the body finished and mounted i put the decals on first so i could mask to the yellow stripes i also got my self a circle cutter for the wheel holes great little tool probably saved me two hours im taking a pan down to the powder coaters to get some brown laid down and then its off to shelf land
