gotta love Sand Paws-- they do the same thing in snow.

I never really liked the design of the Sand Paws but for many years thats all there was!

Then finally Panther came out with regular ones. I think they were the first to come out with single rib fronts as well.

Now RC4WD has come out with some very cool paddles modeled after the ones used in Formula Offroad. http://www.rc4wdstore.com/2/product_info.php?products_id=1039

i like sand paws kinda smooth for a paddle, but the Formula Offroad ones look very cool and low profile... may be the next rear tire for my b4 .. they would look real cool on my tamiya vw touareg (Formula Offroad touareg).... i wish Formula Offroad rc was big... just take rock crawler put on stiff springs paddle tires and a fast motor and done... (some would need a spur gear cover.. Formula Offroad = roost)

Its not the Sand Paws themselves that I don't like so much as its the split paddle design I've never been a big fan of.
More of an aesthetics reason than anything else.

Seems like R/C is all about fads these days. I don't see why Competition Offroad can't be next. I would definitely buy into it thats for sure. But hey, whatever keeps people interested is good for the hobby as a whole.

Agreed-- the Sand Paws do look 'less-than-desirable', but man do they perform!

The split paddle does do a great job of providing a smooth ride--

The huge scoops work great in sand, of course, but as shown here-- water, snow & grass as well.

For me, they hook up better in grass than my street tires do on pavement.
