Losi XX project for a friend.

I lucked up on a good deal off of ebay for a Losi XX buggy, everything on the car with exception of the motor plate is brand new. Missing a few parts here and there, but all in all worth the $60 I paid for it. A racing buddy of mine has been seeing us run the vintage rides at the local track, and I think I have convinced him to come up to the next Vonats. Anyway, this is just a post to show how I intend to finish it off for him.

It is missing the shocks, slipper assembly, gear cover, wheels and tires, and a few small bits, but that's about it. I already have the parts I need to get it complete coming.

One thing that I noticed is that the slipper shaft on this car is the same shape as the AE B4/T4 with exception of length. So my intention is to use a combination of B4 slipper and Losi spring and spacers to make a complete unit. Saves me a bunch of $ and also lets me use the more available AE spur gears.

It also has B4 front axles on it with a c-hub and spindle that I'm not familiar with. Maybe when I get some pics up somebody can enlighten me.

Pics to follow soon.

Some pics... I am not sure what spindles and c hubs are on this car. It will allow B4 wheels to be used front and rear, which is nice. I also put on the SC10 slipper and gear cover. Had to shorten the shaft on the tranny and also the slipper adjuster grub screw to work with the slipper. Had to drill and tap to make this gearcover work too.

bearrickster... are the C hubs & steering arms off the SC10? These look like a good idea - I always found the in-hub bearings a bit of a pain on the XX... just took that bit longer to remove them to clean :?

The XX looks good Brandon.... quite a mish-mash of different parts but all will work well together - the TripleX wing mount is a good solution for the hard-to-find XX wing mount parts. P.S is that a Jammin shell?

The C hubs and spindles are RPM parts, but I don't remember if the king pin camber link was made for this car specifically or if it was for a B3 or something. They are not SC10 parts though.

The slipper assembly and gearcover are SC10 sourced. I started pricing the slipper parts for Losi, and it added up quickly. The SC10 complete slipper I got off of ebay for $10. I would have spent $14 alone for the outer plates if I'd have stuck with OE. I did buy a Losi spacer and spring kit cause of the difference between the shafts, and I think it will work out allright. Besides it will make it easier to find spur gears now too.

I have no idea what body is on it!

Looks very nice Brandon. Isn't that motor plate from a XXCR?

Its a Losi optional part (lightweight machined) - the CR came with the standard black motor plate..... however the Kinwald came as standard with the lightweight part but anodised blue

P.S; let me know if anyone has one NIP they'd be willing to sell - Its Losi part No A9920 :)

Thanks, good to know. The reason I thought that is both of my CRs have that piece.

I am assuming you need the blue one?
Good luck , that's one of the rarest motor plates you can try to find!

I have one NIB in silver though.

I have to give David hell, he can't even build his own race cars, but if it gets one more guy to go to the VONATS it's worth it.
