10T coming back to life - possible SC conversion. Need help.

I'm brand new on here but not new to the Hobby. I dug up my old (or what the guy at the hobby shop called "vintage" - made me feel old) RC10T, after seeing my buddys new HPI blitz. My truck is in good shape and I got it up and running with a shock rebuild, tranny rebuild, new turn buckles (old ones were rusted) new 3300 battery pack, new brushes and lots of motor spray. Also updated to the new Deans type plugs. I am thinking of converting it to a SC truck. But I have some questions:

Tires: I've read I need new 3/16 hubs and bearings, are these direct drop ins? anyone have part numbers I will need from Associated to go with the SC10 rims and tires?

Wheelbase: I saw a guy on here made an amazing chassis mod by welding a piece of a chassis onto an existing one to extend the wheel base. Is this necessary? I was planning on just adjusting the body posts, tires and ride height. I am looking at bodies from pro-line made for the new SC10. Any ideas?

Here are some pics of the truck minus the motor. I will put up some more later on.

Welcome to the forum. As far as the 3/16 axles go... 1/4 wheels for the truck are still kinda easy to find and even on the bay they don't cost too much. If you do want to go with the 3/16 though, check out this topic:http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8848

Now for the SC10 conversion. I have seen all kinds of ways to do this. but the easiest looking conversion I have seen has to be the one I saw on the AE forums:

But your truck looks great the way it is

Hey thanks for the fast reply. It looks like chassis extension may create a weak point in an otherwise solid rig. I think I'll keep it as is. Invest the money ina traxxas waterproof electronic set up (maybe brushless) and just enjoy it. Any A

Before i did the sc10t build with the welded chassis  i scored a 10t that someone hade used a piece of fiberglass to extend the nose and made new tubes....it was before the sc trucks came out i dont know what the project was for but another idea for ya

I haven't done this mod personally but I would think as long as you add the custom nose tubes it should stay fairly stiff... at least worth a try if you have a damaged/beat up nose plate laying around.
