Well...it's more like cleaning project. Diggley had an idea of making a buggy from left over parts, so I decided to go through my closet and see what I could come up with. I don't have much stuff I don't use, but I found some cool old school boxes, a Novak 410-M5, a burt up Tamyia Hornet, a Kyosho Raider and an old stick radio, oh and there was so odd Kyosho Hi-Rider parts too.
I soon realized that the Raider wasn't too far gone and could be a runner in no time. I cleaned the Raider up and got it looking presentable. I was happy to find the original motor too.
I just need a few parts,

Shock springs and cups, or a full set of new shocks
Chassis support R-1
Rear Wheel shafts
Swing shafts
Rear chassis support R-4
Steering tie rod set R-10 and steering saver
Rear wheels R-11
Battery straps R-13

I got some green Raider wheels of ebay already an I'm watching a nearly complete raider on-line too.

I cant wait to see what you come up with.

Between this and a few other projects I've seen here and there, most notablty Mr. Ed's creations, I have a real urge to start some kitbashing myself. Looking forward to this one.

It is fun to dig some half built and dusty grimey kit and make it come back to life.

I wasn't referring to any specific car that he's done. It just seems his builds are always unique and utilize components that you wouldn't necessarily think would go together. Just search some of his threads and you'll see what I mean.

yeah, I know he has some good builds, just thought one stood out.

I just got done with visiting you latest project Dr. ED. I would love to do a hybrid with this Raider bit and some RC10 suspension parts, BUT and with a big sigh, since this one is nearly complete already I think I am going to keep it a Kyosho Raider.

I am going to treat this one as if we were back in the late 80s/early 90s and I wanted to hop it up...we'll see what happens

I to am looking forward to the green rims I'm thinking a body painted in purple and grey or silver

I guess not many people know about the Kyosho Raider, including myself.

I found out that there was a Raider, Raider ARR, and a Raider Pro.

and the Kyosho Raider Pro, which looks like they just got rid of the mechanical speed control and now need a esc along with new decals and maybe shocks. other than that, I don't know...I got the Raider and the Hi-Rider for $10 back in 1992 for some lunch money

There's also a turbo raider...came with orange wheels and some pretty decent hop ups...

The pro body was a little more modern too: more like the outrage and maxima etc.

Most of the car is similar to the Rocky, including trans, suspension arms, bumper, parts of the chassis, etc.

I just scored a raider runner off of ebay for $12, cost double that for shipping

It has gold shocks and all the parts that I am missing to make mind complete
All this means is that I will have more than enough parts to make a good period hopup Raider and then move on to a great and mysterious mismatch buggy of RC10 suspension parts and Raider chassis

I remember when these cars were new on the market way back when. I worked part time at my local hobby shop while I was still at school to earn extra pocket money for racing etc... These kits were in plentiful supply and being primarily a Kyosho agent we sold a tonne of these kits in all their forms.
Obviously not aimed at the serious end of the 'racer' market they were a pretty reliable entry level car and who knew that a mid mounted motor 2WD would be so popular all these years later?

How did they handle compared to the rear mounted motors?

I never did have this Raider very long before it was phased out by my RC10s. In fact I bought it along with a charger, a Kyosho Hi-Rider and a stick radio all for $10 back in 1992.
