Hello Yok fans, this is my first yok project. I was always a fan of the early dogs but never got around to getting one until now. I got this one from a member on here(lostwages, thanks!!) http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=13386 then he listed it on ebay where i won it. I've been gathering bits here and there(some from here, thanks Doug!!) for some time time now and decided to give a go. I started with a new delta graphite chassis(i think its a delta), hot trick roll bar, aluminum rear arm mounts, aluminum front arms, de-anodized ae front shock and some de-ano parma rear shocks. This is turning into a cool project that was worth the wait.......

Thanks! May be a slow go but will post some updates along the way. Just dug up some wheels and tires that i can't wait to mount up. Having some trouble mounting up the yellow battery tray. I really don't want to drill holes in the chassis for the tray. The mounting holes for the tray fall in one of the slots in the chassis slots. I'm guessing that the slots in chassis are for single cells???

Yep - single cells, some used a 4+2 configuration. others a 3+3, depends on what the track is like and what you want the car to do.

DONT drill holes in that aweseom chassis "PLEASE"..way to nice an example to drill into....make another with a dremel and some sheet if you are going to run it!! :)

Great job on the resto so far.

Cheers

Darryn

This is a cool build. That chassis is soooo sweet, I seem to remember someone else having that chassis on here, maybe Dr Robotnik has a thread about a build up he did a couple of years back. There is a picture of the correct battery strap for this chassis which kind of looks like an "L" shaped affair that you might be interested in. You have a great selection of parts for your build here this should be a really sweet one.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I found a build by Y'ernat Al that was top notch and really liked that kydex battery strap. I have a kydex sheet and think i'll give it a try but don't know what to use for the standoffs for the strap, aluminum would be great but ......

The aluminum front arms and rear mounts look beefy. It would be cool to get them al annodized to match the the red shock mount

I used one of the universal body mount kits by Parma, intended to retrofit truck/closed wheel bodies. I just cut the posts down. With all that alloy, you might as well go aluminum though.

I got short of breath when I read you were contemplating drilling the chassis! Throw the yellow thing onto the bay and you can get about $8 US for it. And stay away from the drill!

Nice collection. -B

Well i got closer to completion. I'm currently working on a battery strap setup. I put away the drill and yellow batt. tray and Going to turn down(or try to) some small aluminum standoffs on a older Atlas metal lathe that i received a while back. Here are some pics of the car so far....

That buggy is turning out great. a battery strap made from a similar fiberglass that matches the chassis would be key.

Found this picture on Time Tunnel and noticed that the battery layout is similar to yours and it has the correct battery strap.
