Just had to share this. I am pretty excited by this car!!
I picked tis up from member 8rad via ebay, what a great guy to deal with, he packed this car with tlc! The body is a bit rough, 5 layers of paint were removed and there are some wear issues, minor cracks, etc. The rest of the car is not perfect but beautifully preserved with very light wear and next to no run time. The pictures can't do it justice but here's a shot at it. Next photo session will have a painted and repaired body, the correct repaired speed controller and better lighting!
Nice car RedScampi! Glad to see another happy AYK owner. How did yo get the paint off? I tried it once and the Bobcat shell shattered... The lexan is so thin ont these cars.
Thanks for the complimentS. I actually didn't remove the paint, it was done by 8rad. Maybe he'll chime in and let us know. I'd love to have a reproduction body, does anyone make one for this car?

Mr Lexannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!! please do this one... but the Bobcat is even better
I know he's planning on reproing the Radiant and ProRadiant. But I'd love to get repros of the boxer/buffalo/bobcat family. I actually have the last two NIB but I will never paint or cut them. I whish I had the guts to make a mould but I'm kinda scared to destroy them... The Sidewinder Cowling body is also very cool. Looks like The Kyosho Tomahawk. I have the Piper version only.

it doesnt hurt them to make a mould, I let Brandon do several of mine he never even scrached them
This might be a stupid question, but is that car related to this? There are certain brands I just know nothing about, but when I saw this it immediately reminded me of some ebay images I had saved a long time ago(in fact I had to dig out my portable hard drive to get them)because I thought they were cool. That thing is cool as hell and and will be saved also. Nice score!

This is the Coyote 4wd which is made by SG an Italian company more famous for their nitro cars. There was also a 2wd version available. The Buffalo was made by AYK a Japanese manufacturer.
Well the body shown with the coyote car is actually AYK I think. It's the 566b super trail. Here's a picture taken from Inetrc. I don't know if the coyote used a different body or the one from AYK (although it would be weird).
 I don’t know what I was thinking when I laid down a bid on this Buffalo if I didn’t have enough project as it is. :?
I don’t know much about AYK except that the Buffalo was realest in -85. 8)
Hi everyone - I have an AYK Buffalo. I am always meaning to take the time to sit down and rebuild this car with new body and parts I have collected through the years. I have been thinking lately about putting it up for sale and putting the funds to...

This thread sounds rather familiar , like I've heard it before somewhere ?
Gotta be a first in the Vintage Electronics section.... have to give credit for that.
In 1985 the Buffalo became the third buggy to be released by AYK. Evolving from the Sidewinder (itself an evolution of the Super Trail) the Buffalo continued AYK's mission to create a lightweight racing buggy. Still built on a square tube aluminum...

That's a pretty cool buggy! Very interesting....
It's almost like I've seen the rear suspension... somewhere....
Very cool! And they assemble the tires for you!
You know it's ready to run when the tires come mounted...
Found this on yahoo auctions a while ago but forgot to post it.
Engines are not my thing, but I don't think anybody posted an ayk with engine in the forum before, so here it is:

That would make a sweet scale sand rail...
The motor is where it should be...just add a stinger exhaust!
I've been asking this for quite a while and hopefully some good soul would help me so that i can restore my AYK Bobcat/Buffalo kit. I have here an image of the model for reference and i will just upload the image of the said buggy once i get back....

Anymore progress on this thread? I realise that it is nearly 2 years ago but hey, worth a try!
I finished repairing and improving my buddy's Buffalo last night. I know it kind of looks a bit cobbled-together, but keep in mind it's for a runner/basher and he's not concerned about looks--just improved performance. I'll call it FrankenBuff ....
