1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
A shortcut to locate the articles is to browse the back issues lists of the previous 12 months in the Decembers' issues (not guaranteed). The the WCs' reports, they are usually 2 to 3 issues lag behind. However, I can't get any for the 1992 1/8 offroad WC in Germany.

Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
Just to clarify for everyone.... I didnt scan these... i dont even own the issues lol
These are direct from RC Car actions website, they offer them as PDF downloads to subscibing members. I just figured out a way to bypass the subscription for everyone to download the files directly without paying.. (they didnt secure their website at all properly).
I cant scan any back issues guys sorry.

Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
This was the main reason I joined their website, but digital versions of the current issues made it worth the $19.95 as well. I've got 90% of them from a few months ago (ah the joys of being unemployed with high-speed internet) and apparently they cut out all pages without any of article content on them. These are all direct scans of the older magazines, some of them even have notes of doodles hand-written in them.
They probably cut out the ads for multiple reasons; to save file space, to keep from giving former advertisers a freebie, and to spare themselves the headaches of running old phone numbers, web sites and email addresses. I've heard of radio and TV shows having to do that on repeats because they have no way of knowing if the phone number is still active, who has it, etc. They don't want to give out a phone number from 3 years ago that now belongs to some little old lady, who is getting dozens of calls from strangers looking for some company or contest.
This reminds me of the this one Testors modeling guide that they sell for $15-20 in stores, but the whole thing is/was available in PDF form on their website for free.

Anyone know which issue(s) might have the Associated "IMPORT FIGHTER" ad in it?

Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
Found it. Thanks for the links. It is amazing what is stored in a persons brain. I saw some of these early covers and it shot me there right away. I remember reading these 100's of times.

Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
Does anyone have a searchable database of the table of contents from the magazine scans? I've lost hours on end looking for specific articles before finding them and the significant other is getting a little annoyed Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!!

Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
I know that can be done with PDF text documents though using the following tool.
http://regain.sourceforge.net/
But I don't think it can be done with the magazine scans..

Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
Well people were asked to pick a year or two and type out the Table of Contents. Apparently nobody else was interested as I'm the only one who did the first set as seen above. It might be too big of an undertaking for one person to do all the issues themselves.adam lancia wrote:Does anyone have a searchable database of the table of contents from the magazine scans? Re: 1986-2005 RC Car Action Archives
I must have missed that set of posts. I guess that would be as good a way as any to get it archived and somewhat searchable. Just gotta find the time for it now...Lowgear wrote:Well people were asked to pick a year or two and type out the Table of Contents.
