post your stories up too.

ok it started out like this. i am the type of person that will buy in excessive bulk to "save" a few bucks. i frequently mail photo cd's of my family to my grandfather in florida. well i'm always buying bubble mailers at walmart in 3 packs for a few bucks a pack. i decided to look them up on ebay. score! i find some for a heck of a price compared to what i had been paying plus these are the poly bubble mailers. so about $30 bucks later i had ordered 500 mailers. well when i got them in i realize that in my brilliant thinking i ordered the wrong size. now i have 500 4x6 poly bubble mailers i wont be able to use very often. ohh well it wasn't the sellers fault so i didn't bother to attempt to exchange them. i turned around an buy a lot of the 6x9 size i was originally wanting. good thing i had the extra room in my shop to store them all.. i may use them all one day but i doubt it. my son can inherit them once i'm gone.

well my second story is about the package that ups just dropped off today.. i live in the sticks so anytime i get a package in the mail that will not fit in my road side mail box i have to drive to the post office. i order a lot of rc stuff and my wife also orders stuff from time to time. my grandfather and grandmother in fl miss their only great grandchild. and are not able to make the trip up here anymore. so they send care packages frequently. so 3 or 4 times a week i have to go to the post office. mind you its right down the street from me but it still gets annoying to have to go there practically every day or so. so how can i solve this problem? well a bigger mailbox would be one way. so i started looking at measurements of the different size mail boxes. then i ask our postmaster if there is any size restrictions or what not. she said no. so what do you think i do. yes that's right i go and buy the largest mailbox i can. the mailbox i currently have is a t1 in size. you better believe i didn't settle for the t2. i went all out and got the t3! i knew the size dimensions because i was excited that it would hold a large priority box. well i was a bit shocked to say the least when i saw the size of this thing. i can see a measurement and understand its size. but unless i see it with my own eyes i have trouble comprehending the size. i could nearly fit my son in this box! well now i am wondering if i will put this thing out on my pole or not. i live dead center of town. everyone has a t1 size mail box. this t3 is 3x the size of the t1. it will look like a hummer at a honda meet. and it gets better. back when i moved in i built a 3 mail box post to hold the neighbors boxes so i didnt have to mow and trim around 3 poles. you guessed it my box is the middle one. my wife knew what size i ordered but she has yet to see this box. i will leave it up to her if we should put this thing out in our front yard or not.

Hey CC,
don't have a story for you but you won't be dissappointed with the mailbox . Problem is if you live out of town they get a lot of 'target practice' on a long straight country road .

ya i'm gonna take a pic of it tonight. my son climbed in the box it was in. lets just say he had a lot of extra room in there. i think an rc10 inside will give a good example of how big it is. i thought about another good thing about having a box this big. since we don't have street signs around here i can tell people to look for the castle of all mailboxes. when they see it they know where i live.

if you are in town you might be able to sell advertising space on it too

Not much of a story, but @ 6 years ago I got a wild hair up my a$$ to try my hand at kart racing....
Bought a used 125cc Italkart from the local kart shop (it wasn't cheap) and was going to race the "spec Leopard" class, as there is an outdoor track justa few miles from me.
I didn't research it enough, as there are alot of expenses associated with racing a kart....fuel, tires, track fees and travelling....just wasn't in my budget.
All I ever did was donuts in the garage before selling it.....

I may have the smallest car on the block, but I'll have the biggest mailbox.

a search for "T3 mailbox" will also lead you down the path of excessively large mailboxes. also be sure that you check with your local post office about size restrictions. some areas have these restrictions and it would suck to find out you can't use it after buying it.

They actually have "mail boxes" for packages. They're called Package Delivery Vaults but they cost a lot and involve masonry. Some even include built in mail boxes on top.

Now these are nice but you better add another insurance policy to your homeowners policy to protect yourself from being sued. They don't move like a regular posted mailbox

every I try to find parts for my yokomo project I've thought this.....

ya.. here we cant even concrete our mailbox posts in. its all about safety. i would much rather replace my box and pole than see someone get injured in an accident with a killer mailbox.

well my wife's jaw hit the ground and ashed if our post would even hold it or have room. i assured her it would but i most likely would need to put a brace to help support it. well the next step is to go pick up a couple pieces of treated lumber so i can make the mount and brace for it. im not sure if i will get around to it soon or it will be put on hold until the spring. i may get around to it after christmas though.

I think a picture of it dwarfing the other mailboxes will be in order.

We're lucky as our street is one of the only few remaining in which the mailboxes are attached to the houses.

Josh, I was really chomping at the bit to do this a few years ago! a buddy at work and my boss at the time were both into it and it looks like a trip! Lucky for me I didn't have the money at the time!

Just about every second thing I buy on eBay, or get in a trade/sale through forums fits this category.....

It usually comes down to how cheap I am
