Cut down wide track car! *PICS* Update 1/3/10

I've wanted to build one of these for a long time, I even went as far as to buy the arms from Dynotech a couple years ago, and then sold them to a member on here. Anyway, I decided this time around that there's going to be some follow through with the project! I think the worlds car I'm working on is giving me the inspiration, not to mention the other builds similar to this one that have been completed over the past year. I was fortunate enough to get enough nice parts with my worlds car to make this project that much more of a reality as well.

Here's how she sits right now, the Tub is a very nice, almost shelfer quality B stamp that I proceeded to cut down by 10mm, the nose plate was a NIP 10T plate and the motor plate was a pretty clean one I had floating around that somone did an awful job of cutting up, so with some careful dremel work and filing it came out pretty nice as well. The white bulkhead was a really nice one that had a similar fate to the one on that gold tub I recently sold so it went in the mill for some sexy clean up where the ears were taken off with a hacksaw. I kinda wanted to do some Rulux wheels but then I decided I wanted this car to kind of mimic my worlds car since I had enough white parts left over from the team car I picked up that donated it's chassis, so I picked up some yellow B4 wheels and proline bowties. those will be driven by the B44 cva's and RPM truck carriers. I have a white case stealth soaking in the simple green right now that will go together with new bearings, diff, and that titanium topshaft I came across a couple weeks ago. The rest of the build I'll kinda figure out as I go along, I have some new 1.32 and 1.02 threaded body shocks and some truck towers that I'm going to play around with, not sure what I'm going to use for steering yet, would like to find a houge set, but I don't know how realistic that is.

Here's where I'm at after about two hours of goofing off.

got the rear suspension hung on the car today, I think I'm happy with it? I might want a little more shock angle than I have, I tried the shock on the outermost hole on the arms but I'm almost positive that I'll get wheel interference out there.

I think I went a little overboard on the countersunk washers! man, I love those things!

Think the roller is just about finished off! got the front end put on and sorted out over the past couple evenings. The only thing left for the chassis now is for my AvidRC order to come with those 1/2"x3/16" bearings!!!!

Nice progress--you going to dye those Dynotech arms black?, and what body are you planning on running?

Thanks Reg, You know, I was tempted to dye the arms, but I've had mixed results dying them before so I'm probably just going to leave these ones. I originally wanted to dye the arms black and do all other parts white to mimic my worlds build, but I've kind of decided to just leave this one a patch work of black and white. As far as the body goes I have one of the new protech bodies that I'll drop on it.

Looks good! I'm working on one like it, with a worlds chassis and the same front end, RPM's rear arms. Post pics with the body on I'm wondering how it looks.

Just finished the rough fit of the body, I cut the front edge a little too far back but I don't think anyone but me will notice when it's all done.

Qball,
Looks good but you need to run the noseplate in the other position to keep the buggy wheelbase. The postion you have it in is the stock truck location. You will need to cut down and redrill the nose tubes.

That is really a great profile! I love the quality work on this car. Did I see you say that you have a mill?
