tamiya rough rider

what year did these things come out? also , if the trans is stripped out in side, is there another tamiya vehicle that i could swap internals? also does anyone have any pics of they woulda looked like box stock? (wheels ,tires, paint scheme ect..)
i would greatly appreciate any replies , info , tips. pictures would be cool too if possible. thanks

All the internals from the new buggy champ 2009 re-re will work I believe.

I would think you could pick up all the parts you need from one of the ebay chop shops parting a new buggy champ kit. Just google rough rider, buggy champ, should give you tons of pics.

You can use all the internals from the new re-release on the old car. Slightly different moldings - but work.

Original RR was released in November of 1979. There were 4 versions of the chassis. Most common term for these buggies is SRB (Special Racing Buggy). 3 versions used almost identical suspension and chassis set up - they were the Rough Rider, Sand Scorcher and Ford Ranger. The Super Champ was released without the radio tub. It employed a "top deck" style chassis with a large rear monoshock suspension sytem. There were more differences, however they would take hours to write about -and the information is freely available at tamiyaclub.com and several other sites around the world. You can even get a reasonable description on Wikipedia.
