Hey guys i havent been here in awhile since i got my RC10 and had a few ?'s about it
so i figured i would drop in and see what was new.
After browsing around i peeked in the Losi forum and saw my buddy Chromie had his
SCT in here so i figured i would throw a few pics of my trucks up.
The 1st one is based off of a CR truck and is a runner.
The 2nd one will me a mid motor design and will have a C/F chassis and will be using
the XXX-NT front bulkhead with front and rear chassis braces or a top deck not
really sure yet.
Here is a few pics enjoy.

Mid motor'ing a xxx 2.43 tranny is a lot tougher than an associated, you have to do some machine
work to the case and the spacing on the topshaft is offset, so you need to make a spacer for the back of the shaft before the bearing, then you need to lathe off the shoulder of the topshaft to get the gear to be center. And you have to mill the rear bulkhead to allow the motorplate to still fit and so the long 4 40 screw that mates the BH/Tranny/motor plate will all mate up. And you have to cut the rear toe block in two pieces because the tranny doesn't fit backwards inside it

yeah, listen to reg on this he is/was the king of this. his mid motored losi's would dominate dirt ovals. i successfullied mid-motored a losi xx retro trans for my jrx-2 edm and that was also a chore and took alot of machining as well.

Hey Erik the first one is looking good , I see you got your front and rear bumpers mounted. I see how you mounted the front body mount , and I can see some what how you mounted the rear body & bumper , I'd like to see better how you mounted the lower portion.
Later Mike.

Hey Mike the rear bumper of the truck is all SC10 like yours and it bolts directly to the Losi trans and T-Plate.
What i did since i built the rear a little different from yours was take a piece of G10 and make
a plate to bolt on top of the trans and motor guard. I drilled some holes in some plastic
round stock i had to use as standoffs to bolt the body mount to.
Then since the stock Sc10 rear bumper mounts wouldnt mount to the truck anymore i cut
the front portion off of the mount above the motor guard mount and had to fab up the
aluminum piece in the pic. My intention is to lighten the aluminum bracket but i wanted to
run the truck first to make sure it was durable before i go and put some holes in it.
You can also notice i cut the side tabs off of the bumper, I dont run mud flaps and i was
tired of the rear bumper cracking my bodies.
Thanks for the info on your build it helped alot on the first truck and now the mid motor
truck is a breeze.
Erik

Well i managed to get the front end narrowed and the XXXT-NT front bulkhead swapped over today as well as i narrowed the rear end with a few different parts than i used on my other Losi.
For the rear of this truck i used all GenII trans parts and i will explain what i did. Since the GenII is wider it makes it a little easier to narrow down but since i have a GenI trans here is what i did.
Parts used for this build are MF2 VLA hubs,MF2 GenII axles and GenII trans outdrive cups.
Since the GenII stuff is wider i had to machine 1/8 of an inch off of each drive cup to allow it to fit in the GenI trans case.
With this mod done and the VLA hubs on the outer hole the axles are now the correct length and do not bind or want to fall out of the cups.
Here are a few pics of the truck and the mods so far.

Here are a few pics of the finished diff.
The first pic you can see the silver spots on each side is the material
i took off of the drive cups to allow them to fit into the GenI trans
case.
The second pic shows the difference in GenI and GenII trans parts.
The GenII cups are on the left already installed on the diff and the shorter GenI cup on
the right.

Here are some updated pics of the chassis. Topdeck is being cut and fit along
with the front and rear standoffs for the top deck and rear trans brace.
Chassis still has to be counter sunk for the hardware.
This truck will run a custom painted Blitz body but here is a pic of what fitment is like.

Rear template and standoffs are done. Electronics will be mounted
on the top plate in front of the shock tower. All thats left now is to
make battery posts and hold downs.
