I love the old Shumachers. That C.A.T. looks fast standing still. Very nice.

I'm a Dogfighter man through and through but I think the CAT SWB/XL/XLS is one of the best looking models ever!

PART 2
Thanks for the compliments guys
I have been very fortunate in collecting my CATS as they were in pretty good condition when I got them. The SWB was complete but I just want show you what the car looked like originally. The original body shell actually had pretty good colours and design......unfortunately the stripes were hand painted and not masked (pretty good effort nevertheless).
Original paint and design
I started to strip the original paint using the nitro fuel method. Bear in mind that this is 20 plus year old paint on the shell so it took a bit of scrubbing and rubbing. Luckily the CAT’s body design is pretty curvy and not a lot of sharp corners so it took no real time. The shell looks pretty second hand but once painted up you will not see the patchiness and scratches.
Looking a bit scruffy
I wanted to replicate the original paint job but thought otherwise in case I screwed it up. Seeing that SWB CAT shells are so rare I decide to go with the safest option.....an all white look. Besides, what better way to contrast the all black wheels and suspension of the CAT.
As she is today!

Sure is good to see a real C.A.T...... the original SWB. I have an XL in my collection but would love to get an SWB!
Great stuff! Check out a few pictures of my C.A.T. here

Thanks for the comments guys

Sweet XL you have....I just need an XL to complete my early CAT collection.
not to keen on the new decals though, no offence
No offense taken on the decals I knew it would not be to everyones liking but I did not have many vintage correct to decorate it with. I was kinda fortunate to salvage that body actually.....do standby for a new paint job in the near future.

Really a very nice C.A.T there Uzzi - job well done mate.
I have a soft spot for the C.A.T myself, did alot of racing with the team back in the day. I have about 9 or 10 cars to resotre/build. This one of yours is certainly inspirational.
Thanks for sharing!
cheers

Thanks for the compliments Darryn...after seeing some of the standard of work done by yourself and other members here it is very humbling indeed. I drove Kyosho cars (Optima mid and Ultima) bitd as the then distributor was local (ABC models remember them?) hence parts were readily available. I never got a chance to drive one in competition but always wanted one.....just need to do a runner now

Wow! that is some serious collecting...come on show some already!

Hi mate,
Yeah - a bit of a tragic I am for sure. Just seem to have collected so many over the years. I have a SWB to build up from totally new parts as well. That one is going to be special..cant wait - well - I guess I can - had the bits for years! In no rush though - its for my enjoyment, so I am under no pressure to build them in a hurry. Got a beautiful NIB Cat XL as well - that will stay NIB.
I sure do remember ABC - Jason used to work for them BITD (BORMAC).
I actually bought out a huge amount of stock from them a few years back (or the guys that bought all the old stock anyway), sold alot on and kept a bit too. Small world isnt it!
Where are you based?
Cheers
Darryn
