Re: BMX Bandits..
It's been on a few times this month. Nicole Kidman in her finest role? LOL!
If it isn't broke, I haven't driven it yet.

Maybe we should give Scott a little privacy, you know, just until the movie is over.Charlie don't surf wrote:Ha stalker, that's what I'm watching right now--thinking how many times Scott dreams of himself in this movie

Re: BMX Bandits..
Closet "Rad" fan here. I had a couple Predators and a Dyno Comp with Skyway mags. If only I was as cool as I thought I was. LOL

Re: BMX Bandits..
PJ, Goose and who realy cared what Nichole Kidman's characters name was- LOL! I loved that movie and even owned the very same model Mongoose that 'Goose' rode. Loved the Skyway toughs, the improvised street riding tricks etc... Loved the movie as a kid and it paved the way for my interest in BMX freestyle and got my first real freestyle bike -Haro (FST I think it was? all white ) a few years later.

Sweet! Did you have one in the manly pastel blue or the masculine hot pink? I loved those bikes back in the day. I'd love to have one now as a "vintage" BMXer.Brandon G wrote:A GT Performer was all I could afford at the time....

Re: BMX Bandits..
My Performer was all chrome. Lame story behind that:
I had about $100 of allowance credit built up. (my parents sometimes couldn't afford the $10 a week to pay me outright ) My B-day was coming up and I was asking for a new bike. I had my sights on a brand new Mongoose Californian, all white with white mags. I think it was about $225 from the local bike shop. I was asking to apply my "allowance credit" to the bike and they recoop the rest.
Well the day came where they were going to town to pick it up. When they came home, I was the proud owner of a Spalding bike. WHAT? Yeah, Spalding. I was aware at the time thet the made tennis balls, but not bikes. I was told to take it or do without any bike, so I took it. I guess my cheap ass stepdad decided to use my allowance to get me a bike from Target instead.
Anyway, I broke the frame about a month later, and my buddy hooked me up with his big brother's Performer. It was the frame, forks, and bars. Swapped the missing hardware over as I needed to, and never looked back. That was one tough frame. Never had any problems with it. I would love to get my hands on another someday.

Re: BMX Bandits..
It took my dad a while to understand why I wanted a real BMX and not one form K-mart. He thought I was just hard on bikes and that is why my frames would break and the wheels would get destroyed. Once I got a used Mongoose Supergoose, he understood the difference.
