JPAE07s Old But Newer World Car w/ a Kinwald Touch

Post by JPAE07 »

I rarely get a chance to post up my builds. Mostly due to my parts being in storage and my wife not wanting to share me with my builds. Here we go. Here is my version of an Old but Newer car.

I was fortunate to find this car at a local hobby shop. The owner offered it to me for $15 saying he was close to throwing it out. The chassis had seen alot of battle and was a sight for sore eyes. The chassis was one of the dirtiest and most scarred chassis I had. Covered in flat black krylon and a pound of CA glue.

My first task was to clean the car up. I tore the car down in stages over a few months. I wanted to build my first runner and pondered about it since I already had a Team Car chassis in mind for this build. In addition I was unsure about using such a rare chassis as my runner. After some thought, it was the perfect chassis to put back into service. I wanted this runner to be a cross between Kinwald's original car and an Old but Newer version.

- B4 threaded shocks.
- New graphite WC shock towers - The front accommodates the .89 shocks

Kinwald mods:
- Kinwald shaped nose
- shaped motor plate
- Rear bulkhead ball end ears removed
- Kinwald shaped rear A-arms
- Motor: Team Kinwald Dirtinator

Other mods:
- Ti turnbuckles w/ RPM ball cups
- RPM shorty front bumper

8) LOOKS GOOD, It is a bit like my RC10 Runner. I like it because it is more like the original cars we use to race, with the stock parts like arms and rims.
Sweet looking towers, don’t forget to add the tranny brace.

Thanks m_vice - It was my intent not to update the car too much. Plus I liked doing some of the Kinwald mods like leveling/shaving the topside and removing the bottom rear lip of the rear arms.

Thanks temple - The guy had alot of old crap lying around so I would doubt that it was close to getting tossed. I'm just glad it didn't make it to the dumpster. On the battle scars...wish I was the one who added them.

Also just a minor update.
A while back I obtained a Team Checkpoint 12 turn. Once I get this thing going the right direction on the track I plan on swapping motors.

Also, the LRP ESC is the second from AE. The first caught on fire and nearly burnt the car to a crisp. Good thing those LRPs have a lifetime warranty.

It helps if you show up in person. They even un-soldered the wires for me so I didn't lose my plugs.
