Plastic bushings:1, Aluminum axles:0

Post by aconsola »

Picked up a junior-2 to restore. It was built with the stock plastic bushings on the axles. The wheels wobbled so much I thought one of the bushings may have been missing, but this is what I found when I took it apart.
I've never seen an axle worn that bad.

It really makes me wonder why any manufacturer would not include bearings in their kits, sure it makes it cheaper but perfomance and longevity outway the extra cost.

to cut down the cost especially for a budget racer and newbie

Junior Two is a budget race kit similar to the RTR now a days. :D that you will be tempt to upgrade it! in the long run it will be more expensive to compare with the Factory buillt kit.

I had some frog spindles that looked the same back in the day. Bearings were too expensive for me. :D

yeah, that's the thing....back in the day, bearings were $$$$. with places like boca and avid offering nicely priced parts, its much more affordable now. 4 regular plain bearings would be easy $20.00 back then. almost a quarter of say, a grasshopper kit.
