That's great!
Now to find a decent 1st generation Parma Panther and I would have all the different makes in the A-Main.

Basically a Jomac Lightning with a different radio tray and black plastics.

Actually, the fiberglass chassis, not the old Jerobee/Bolink/Gp12 chassis.

The RC12E car in this ad (as well as a couple of Tony Neisinger's cars) were on display at the Ranch Pit Shop
back in the late 1980s.
I saw them on a west coast trip and recognized them from pictures I'd seen.
Why, oh why, didn't take a picture?

Oops, I meant RC12i.
Does anyone know if there's a color photo of this car that's ever been published?

The article in the Japanese magazine was actually a replica of my car that must have been built by the magazine staff. I think they asked me if I could send them my car, but it was already at another magazine so they used a replica car and one of my spare Worlds bodies that I had given to the Associated Japan team.
Here is a very in-depth article about my 1982 Worlds car from RC Model Builder magazine. I'll be happy to answer any questions about the car.

What issue was that in?
I wonder whatever happened to Dan Rutherford (the author of that article)?

That was the February 1983 issue of Model Builder. I'm not sure about Dan, I'd like to know as well.
Here's another article about the 82 Worlds from Flying Models magazine, written by Chris Chan who made a lot of the classic AE advertisements, box photography, etc. This article gives more background on the race, with a good shot of the racetrack. The track was in the parking lot of the Grand Hotel next door to Disneyland. The track surface was sandblasted to remove the sealer, then the white stripes were painted and the boards screwed into the asphalt. Top notch track, very smooth and high grip.
