Sons First Build

Post by MONSTER »

I dont know, hes not as excited as I thought he would be. He builds stuff all the time with LEGO (large & small), Kid Conex (sp?), Magnetics, etc, but I have to ask him if hes gonna work on it. When he gets started, hes proud when he finishes a "stage", likes to show people what hes doing, I just dont know what it is about gettting started. :?
Hes using the Manual and one of my Buggys for reference. He desperately needs the Parts in my Wanted Thread. As stated, nothing special, just USABLE.
Anyway, heres some pics:

My son was like this. He's very mechanically competent and likes putting stuff together. He was always proud of things he built but after it was done he'd lose interest in it, whatever it was. Back when he was younger I could not afford to be in RC and now he's 20 and in engineering school. I regret not being able to share this with him, now he thinks I'm just a bit eccentric, I think.

That is great to be able to do quality projects together. He is a lucky kid, not many kids these days will ever wrench on a gold pan. I bought my 6 year old son a truck this summer to race with me and my T4. The problem is that I thought I would get him a cheapie Evader ST. What a POS. I have put more parts in that than I would have spent on a T4 to start with and he is a very good driver. I wish I could help with the parts but I do not have enough posts yet to get into those areas  .
The Fox, Falcon, 9 RC10s black/gold/graph, Optima Mid SE EXT, Losi XXXT, B3, B4, 3 T4s, Evader BX, Evader ST, Buggy Champ '09, Sand Scorcher '10, RC10T, RC10DS

'We'? I predict something more along the lines of "dad, don't you think you 'tested it' enough yet? I spent hours building it, when can I drive it?...... What do you mean go to my room?"

 I remember my first experience with e-clips on my RC10T. Careened off my glasses and landed in the hallway about 10 feet away. And get the kid a couple of those plastic lunch trays to put his work on, it will make cleaning up easier at the end of the day.

  Nah, Hes had a T3 for a while, so I'll probably let him take the "maiden voyage". Beside, I already have 2 RC10s (1 for Show, 1 for Go), and about to build myself a Short Arm Runner. Got a Tranny ready for him yesterday, so that will be the next Phase. As soon as Petes Parts get here, he should be able to finish it up.

because of this post I started a project with my daughter- a lunchbox.

she's on'y three- so I did all the work including the test run.

Tonight we picked up purple paint and flower stickers to put on it. Last night I started looking for my boys midnight pumpkin- he's 1, not so much in a hurry- should have it done by next week! haha

I started a TLT project with my daughter at about that age. Watch out for the little tubes of grease, wife wound up calling poison control that night after a slight ingestion

Thats kinda funny. But I bet your wife was scared to death. So does poison control charge you like they do here? I mean seriously, you ingested poise and want to get it out and they ask you for a friggn credit card so they can charge you for the advice!
